Not sure if I understood what you said but might be looking for 'change deck' (http://ankisrs.net/docs/manual.html#toolbar) or 'deck override' (http://ankisrs.net/docs/manual.html#cards-and-templates).
Or you could just reposition the recog cards. I don't get why you have to reimport btw.
