Iain McGilchrist: The divided brain

#1
Psychiatrist Iain McGilchrist describes the real differences between the left and right halves of the human brain. It's not simply "emotion on the right, reason on the left," but something far more complex and interesting. A Best of the Web talk from RSA Animate.

Psychatrist Iain McGilchrist is the author of "The Master and His Emissary: The Divided Brain and the Making of the Western World".

Thanks, was an interesting watch. I do need to watch more of these videos, it'll be a more constructive use of Youtube rather than blowing time on 'let's plays'. Smile

loads of stuff in books designed for students is portrayed as the truth whereas it is in fact at best a theory or worse propaganda. Nice one for posting, Fabrice.

Interesting video.

I've long suspected the right brain is very responsible for absorbing raw sensory data as it comes and the left brain is very responsible for thinking abstractly or symbolically, being analytical and making decisions.
I suspect that for language learning which is something very data heavy, you really benefit from having your right brain turned on and absorbing things as the come without too much analysis.
