Place to watch anime with JP subs?

#26
It's not the series, but AnimeSuki has the first Rebuild film up (though after looking at that Gundam thing, I wouldn't trust the Nyoron one).

There's also a script written up for it online somewhere, I think it was a Chinese forum. I saved it, was slowly checking it against the script on the DVD to make sure it was right. Not sure where I put it now.

That said, finding the original (and probably both Death & Rebirth and End of Evangelion films) on big torrent sites isn't much trouble either.

You should probably read comments more carefully. I linked you to those japanese Death Note subs and told you how to use them early on in the thread.

As for NGE, googling 新世紀エヴァンゲリオン せりふ brings this site up. Can anyone confirm it? I don't have the series on hand and it's been a long time since I watched it. This is a script, not subs btw. I've done a lot of searching for subs and never found any NGE ones.

Edit: Also The End of Evangelion script.

NicoDouga used to have at least some episodes up, but it looks like they've been taken down now.

But YouTube saves the day:

I only listened to first part, and it seems okay. The only problem I've found was 侵攻中 instead of 進行中 (which isn't technically wrong; 進行 is in the Rebuild script), and 気合入れてきたのに sounds more like 気合できたのに to me. But they don't seem like major problems.

Sorry mate, it's just when I tried the one you linked me to it went kind of slow so thought it may have been a dud or something. Then I wanted to reiterate what to do with the new one (though it may well be the same one... agh I'm still new to this).

Thanks for the script, this'll prove extremely helpful! Big Grin

Think I'm nearly there this time.

shakkun Wrote:No, the Death Note ones are timed. I've been using them. Where did you get them from? Download the file [LiouMing]Death Note[1-24].jap.ass.zip from this site. The files are in .ssa format IIRC, you simply need to rename the file to match the avi you've downloaded, eg

[darkside-raws]DEATH_NOTE_01.avi
[darkside-raws]DEATH_NOTE_01.ssa

Your player should detect the subs automatically if they're in the same folder. I use windows media player classic.

Edit: and for the record, all the files on that particular website are timed appear-on-the-screen subs. None of them are scripts.
I've renamed the subs to the same name as the video but they're not showing up when I play it.

Things look like this at the moment:

If you look at the file type of subtitles it does not have any file extension. Right now Windows thinks [2E733422] is the extension and does not know it is a subtitle file. Add .ssa on the file name and it should be recognized.

It worked! This is amazing, thank you so much everyone.

Just to hopefully finally put my questions to rest on this subject, do you have any general tips for finding/using torrents? IE. if I was trying to download one and it says 30 days remaining or whatever, should I get rid of it and find another? Or could it's success rate possibly change if I wait it out?

Edit - Terrific. Nearly 50% through downloading these Death Note episodes and something weird has occurred:

And it's now stopped downloading.

Any ideas about this?

You pulled the episode out of the torrent download folder and into a different folder so that you could test the subtitles. Because of that, the episode is no longer in the torrent. Because of that, the torrent is 'corrupt' and doesn't sync up with the others. Put the episode back into your torrent folder (or put a copy in there) and then tell it to start again.

Also: Yes, the download rate will change as people log in and out of the service. You're downloading from other people, so the availability and download speeds depend entirely on who's online and what they have available. But some torrents have poor health or are completely dead (no one is seeding them) in the first place, so you do have to be selective. It's just something you have to investigate for yourself. Most websites you can download torrents off try to give a general indication of their health, but it's only vaguely accurate.

Thanks for the advice.

I made a copy, but when I try to drag it (or the original) back in uTorrent, it gives me the message: "Not enough storage is available to process the command".

That sounds like your hard drive has run out of space.. Not sure though. You just need to copy and paste the file back to it's original folder > Stop the torrent then right click on it and select "Force Re-check." Make sure you haven't changed the name of the video file though.

Think you might be right. I just got some weird message about 'low virtual memory,' and that Windows will give me more.

I think I've screwed up this Death Note thing. I had two files with the episodes in and deleted one - and I think that was the correct one where I should have pasted EP 1 back into.

Guess I'll just delete and start again.

ったく・・・しょうがないや

EDIT - Couple of things I'd just like to verify:

- to avoid what I did last time (ie. taking an episode out of the torrent, screwing everything up etc.) how do I actually get the episode out to put into the folder with the subs?

- on TokyoToshokan.com, if it says raw is it DEFINITELY raw? I'm downloading these Gundam episodes because they're listed as such but they could be subbed in Italian... here are the torrents' details: http://www.tokyotosho.com/details.php?id=124706

If you want to take a file out of that folder and put it somewhere else, just right click, copy (no cutting), and paste somewhere else. If you're actually DONE downloading the torrent, though, you can just remove the torrent from the torrent program and take the whole folder (or everything in it) somewhere else, instead of having such a massive collection on your drive twice. If you actually ALTER anything in the torrent download folder (adding, removing, or changing files), you won't be able to either continue downloading or uploading for other people. If you're not planning to do either (because you're finished), then, again, do whatever with it.

That torrent says it has dual audio since it's a DVD rip. If you use a player that can alternate audio, you can play either the Japanese or the Italian as you please. It may have subtitles (that you can turn on and off) as well, but it doesn't mention it...

Edit below: Ah, can you add files into the torrent location? I imagined that might cause problems, but had never actually done it. Live and learn.
Oh, also, the 'low virtual memory' message does pop up when you're out of drive space. It can't find enough space to use as virtual memory because you've eaten it all up. I'm incredibly lazy about cleaning up my drive, so I see it semi-frequently. Delete crap, or run the disc cleanup that pops up for awhile.

Low virtual memory is related to your RAM. You might just trying to be doing too many things at once. Try closing some programs and trying again if you get this error.

If you just put the subtitle file into the same folder as the torrent episodes you are downloading, you can play them that way. Don't try this unless the video your playing is 100% finished though, or you'll have to do a force re-check again. If you wanna do it the other way then just right click the file and copy it, then paste to another folder. Dragging it out of it's original folder will mess up the torrent and make it stop.

I can't be 100% sure about the torrent you mention but it sounds like it is just Dual Audio, with Japanese and Italian audio. If it says RAW then there shouldn't be any hardsubs on it. If you are playing with media player classic, you can switch the audio on dual audio videos by, clicking Play > Audio > and select the audio you want.

Indeed, if it's labeled RAW and there's hardsubs, you should probably mail the torrent site and have them take the torrent down / report the torrent. Proper releases are always nuked for such errors.
