There may be about 2.1gb of wink wink, nudge nudge of compressed text archives in that thread. It is definitely worth the effort. Adding Yomichan to the official Anki shared plugins is definitely something I want to do soon, but prior to that I want to create a better system for managing dictionaries. Right now the dictionary is hard coded in the plugin, so it would have to be downloaded from the Anki server along with the plugin. That kind of sucks and fixing it is my next goal, but up to now I've been focusing on functional changes. So yeah, it will get there in the next couple of weeks. Having a full time job, learning Japanese and writing code on the side can be rough sometimes

That's pretty strange! You should try dragging the file onto the main window, see if you can get it to open that way (although it should be the same).
