You said before that one needs a little study of basic grammar and language structure before starting L-R, especially for languages distant from mother tongue. For Japanese, one also needs a good knowledge of kanji, 1500 at least. So you cannot start reading real Japanese from the beginning unless you finish something like Heisig and study a grammar guide like Tae Kim.
