You weren't kidding when you said you vocab deck setup was similar to mine lol even down to the isolation of the word on top! 
I took a break from my personal deck to work on core 2k/6k. I tried using the default production format but it just wasn't for me so I switched it to a recognition format similar to how I do vocab in general with all the core goodies still intact. Here are screenshots (images seemed too big to post):

I chose pink for the vocab color since it wasn't too abrasive on the eyes and the background I wanted an off white color feel. The rest of the text was originally black but while I was reviewing it looked strange to me so I decided to change up the rest too. Inspiration was this Tumblr post on Color Coding Notes 101
The post stated that they used 2 similar looking colors and a complementary color. I didn't exactly follow the 3 color rule but I did choose a darker pink and complementary color for pink, which was the dark green.
