Aya moved here end of January and we were married in March, so between that and a punishing work schedule, it's been a whirlwind. Anyhoo - wanted to zombie this thread to report some experiences with Japanese TV in the US and Japanese TV through IPTV.
We tried subscribing to TV Japan, which lasted about an hour because the wife can't stand NHK's programming. Can't say I blame her. It seems the majority of it is stuff like "Two Hours of Violin Concerto" and "The Secret Lives of Mountains". After spending weeks watching other TV channels in Japan, I realized just how stiff and boring it was.
I finally landed on buying a cheap Android TV box (http://www.amazon.com/Android-CHSLING-Lo...ge_o00_s00). I went to japannettv.com, bought a World TV subscription, and installed the APK on the Android device. It works like a charm. Good, clean picture, and very easy to use software. Plus, if something happens to the service, I'm not tied to a single device; I can switch to another service just by installing a new APK.
