This is the manga I used to start reading, even before Yotsuba, because the anime really grabbed me and I figured I had a heads up knowing the story. Even if you didn't watch the anime, I think this is good for beginners because there's a lot of katakana to help you keep up with the story (since the band is trying to "hit in the USA," and the leader of the band is "fluent" in English) and there's furigana for everything.
