Unless I absolutely didn't understand something like half a page of text I would just mark down things I wanted to look up later and keep moving- being happy that I *did* understand a good portion of the text. Eventually everything got ironed out through repeated exposure and a bulked up vocabulary.
When I am reading I try to keep in mind Kato Lomb's method that she describes in 'How I learn Languages' to focus on and sometimes write words and phrases down that you understand, not to get bogged down by unfamiliar expressions.
I'm already feeling improvement after two days. I've been reading on my lunch break at work and when I got home at night. -Bkrmkr
