I only write down stories for kanji that I've missed several times, in the hopes that it'll cement my memory of it. Normally, though, I just spend a moment fleshing out the story in my mind -- if I c...

I don't think reviewing the same cards every day helps very much. It's the painful task of pulling it back up after 3 or 7 or 14 days of having the discipline *not* to look at it, that really trains ...

I'm doing 10 a day: I look at 10 new ones before bed, then add and test them first thing in the morning, along with the reviews that come up. If I forget and I'm really pooped, I at least try to lear...

I'm finding that when I assign a person to a radical, I rarely forget it. Maybe it's just me, but so often when I can't remember a kanji, I at least know it's got Mr. T (person) in it, but I won't re...

Post: kanji recall rate statistics

I've been keeping track lately of the changes in the number of kanji in my rightmost pile. I'm just past 1000 this week, and I have a little over 600 in that pile. I've been failing some old ones I ...

I wonder if kanji like "1" and "2" don't show up as easiest because they're the first ones in the book, and people that drive by the site to check it out may just be pressing buttons to experiment.

Ha! I just got to "beat" (撃), and I love Inuki's short but schweet story: "Your car has missles?! That beats mine, hands down."

I did the first 300 or so, then took a 10-year break, and I'm back at it now. I threw about the first 150 on the new card pile, plowed through them, then started adding 10 a day since then. It's wor...
