The last two comments have made me really curious ... what's this "#50,001"?? :-)

Given that previous estimates have been so off, I'm inclined to recommend we just let them get on with the book, and it'll be published when it's published :-)

Thanks vorpal, pleased you enjoyed it. The good news is now that you have the skill, you have it. Good luck with the next 10,000 characters :-)

Becoming good at visualisations is definitely a skill you need to learn for successful Heisig, and there were a few tricks I learned along the way. In fact, I wrote a lengthy blog article about this,...

In terms of 漫, I picture a mandala drawn in chalk-powder on the floor, and then I see water OVERFLOWING from nearby, and it flows over the mandala and makes a big mess of it. What a pity - it was an a...

Thanks for your replies. I also do not have Book 1 perfectly, so I'm happy to continue working on that until Book 2 comes out. I certainly have no intention of "anticipating" it by coming up with more...

For those who are eagerly awaiting Book 2, I would be curious to hear from you how good your knowledge is on book 1. * Do you know Book 1 flawlessly, and therefore are ready for Book 2? * Maybe ...

I had considered - at one stage - choosing a list of what would probably be the next 1500 characters, and learning them myself. I figured I would at least get a head-start on book 2 - but the reality ...

表: I picture a guy who is wearing a small scarf, which starts to (magically) widen until it completely covers his face. At this stage, I can only see the *surface* of his facial features - where his n...

In Chinese, there is just the hanzi character set, and 500 characters make up a large proportion by common usage frequency. In Japanese of course you have two other alphabets besides kanji - and thes...

I use MDBG.net as standard. It's fast, comprehensive, and includes many options (tone marks, numbering, colours, simplified/traditional, etc.) If I need to look up a word, it would be frustratingly s...

I'm doing the Chinese "Remember the Hanzi", so forgive me for posting in RTK, but I guess ultimately we're all on the same road. I've completed book 1 (1500 characters), but I remember wondering at 5...

Rather than waiting for requests, I thought I would be a little proactive. I did book 1 of "Remember the Hanzi" in about 3 months (although still revising until book 2 comes out). Along the way, the...
