Its better not to rush it, as you will get huge spikes of reviews even months later. As for how, over time it gets easier and easier to take in more words at a go.

Katakana is irritating, especially when the english word they have used doesn't mean what it sounds like. e.g. mansion. Definitely prefer hiragana, for clarity and looks better.
