What is the difference between 服・服装・衣服・衣類・衣装・衣料? And maybe also 洋服 (they seem to use it, even if there is no need to contrast to 和服, right?)

Well, Heisig does choose unusual meanings for the kanji from time to time. Another good example would be 乙. Maybe he thought it would be easier to remember 条 as a twig than as an article.
