I still use the site's SRS myself, just because that's what I started with and it's what I'm used to. Anki has the benefit that a failure later on isn't going to drop the card to the equivalent of Box...

I can't answer the first question, but as to the second, I think most people agree that after RTK1, you have enough of a basis between existing primitives, or the ability to create new ones yourself, ...
