What content would you recommend for fluency checking? - TheVinster - 2012-09-28

What content in Japanese would you recommend to a Japanese learner that, given they understood it, would mean they have an excellent grasp of the language? Let me provide you an example. If someone was learning English I would advise them to watch The West Wing because it has a lot of technical terms and the dialogue moves very quickly. Now of course this covers more political vocabulary and I don't believe there's any one show that can test the entire spectrum of fluency but let's just say it's a good check of fluency if you've studied into that genre more. Also books provide even more possibilities obviously.

Any takers? Can you post a clip of something in Japanese that perhaps many may see as a goal to understand? For the sake of it let's just say that "old language" from a few hundred years back is not necessary.

Hopefully it's understood what I'm trying to ask.
