Short-Term Program Summer 2013 + JASSO scholarship question - fishhead - 2012-09-26 I am looking into a Japanese language program for this coming summer. N2 preparatory level. I will be going to Japan for a full year as of Sep 2013 on a JASSO, but would like to improve over the summer. I am looking for reccomendations for programs, and wondering if anyone knows if you can qualify for a JASSO scholarship twice in the same year? I am currently considering the following: http://www.waseda.jp/cjl/en/s-term.html - missed the winter deadline for this, for which I am kicking myself! I don't know much about this program, but the fact that it is Waseda is drawing me to it (though I know that does not guarantee the program is good). The availability of the scholarship makes the 6 week course quite affordable, but the problem is accommodation. I can't work out from the website how much it would cost, but it looks like somewhere around 60,000 yen? However, I don't know how far away I would be from the college, and transport might be expensive. http://www.nanzan-u.ac.jp/English/cjs/index.html This course is more expensive (does not seem to qualify for JASSO), close to 300,000, but has the advantage of having accommodation on campus, and in another post someone mentioned that they think you get to live with another Japanese student. From the website, it looks like it it is a more all-inclusive program, if that makes sense, where I am a bit concerned that the Waseda program would just look after your classes, and you have to do everything else yourself. Meiji University - program period is shorter than the others, but the JASSO scholarship makes it reasonably affordable. http://www.meiji.ac.jp/cip/english/programs/mjlp/summer.html http://www.ritsumei.ac.jp/eng/html/admissions/program_jp/rsjp-rwjp/sum_02.html/ Don't know much about this program either, but it would be great to go to Kyoto. Doesn't look like it is covered by JASSO though, making it expensive. If anyone knows of any other good programs, please let me know! Or if anyone knows of any other courses, I'd love to know |
