Hi I'm just starting in Japanese and I listen to a LOT of music so using the immersion idea am trying to listen to Japanese radio & music online. Trouble is all the ones I'm finding are mostly music only net radio stations, and nearly all the NHK stations are IP locked to Japan. (I know how to get round that but VPN doesn't really work on mobile or at all my Pure internet radio).
What would be ideal is a mix of Japanese and Western music with talk and news as well so I get a mixture...something like BBC 6music in the UK but in Japanese (or Radio Eigekai with speech) . Suggestions?
And apologies if this is detailed elsewhere but any good places to find Japanese music, preferably in Japanese as I know I'll want to try and read it?...not so much J-pop or anime more indie/experimental/electronic/rock....think John Peel.

Try KeyHole TV: http://xorsyst.com/japan/watch-japanese-tv-online/ . TV often gets choppy but you can use the program to listen to various Japanese radio stations as well and they tend to work ok.
As to which stations in particular you should listen to - can't help you here, sorry, but there's plenty of them and I'm sure you'll be able to find something you like

The choice of stations will depend on the IP region (meaning they'll even block Tokyo stations for Osaka users). I use a proxy with a Tokyo IP and my favorite stations are BayFM, Nack5 and FM Yokohama. I also use Radika for easy scheduling and listening.

On their android app it also has a lot of different Japanese podcasts that you can listen to, in addition to the radio stations. But I can't figure out how to access the podcasts from the website.

Doggcatcher for Android (maybe iOS too?) for NHK news feeds and other podcast feeds as well.
Dig is a great news-discussion podcast, but your level needs to be N2 or higher.
