Have you been regularly syncing with the server? If so, you should be able to delete the broken deck and pull a new copy from the server without too much loss.

Anki discussion (no bug reports) - resolve - 2008-02-13

Balaam: looks like your deck is corrupted. Load the last backup from the hidden .anki/backups directory.

(JimmySeal's suggestion works too if you were using the sync support :-)

Anki discussion (no bug reports) - Balaam - 2008-02-14

I don't seem to have a .anki/backups directory Sad I'm a release or two behind the current anki release.

I've also opened serveral decks since the crash, as now and again I've copied my own backups various places.

With my most recent backup deck I've started syncing with the server - and I've put it under source control Big Grin So I guess I've learnt something. Also I can recreate some of my sentences from the paper I've been practicing on that's by my desk.

Anki discussion (no bug reports) - resolve - 2008-02-14

Unless you've reformatted your disk, you'll have a .anki directory (and a backup directory). Anki will refuse to run without one. It's existed since the 0.2.x series so I'd be very surprised if you didn't have one.

Anki discussion (no bug reports) - Balaam - 2008-02-14

Ah I found it.

That's excellent. I'm on my work lunch break now but I'll try and restore it tonight.

Thank you!

EDIT: yes, that's worked - thanks again!

I see the deck statistics have lost some information in this revision, like how many cards are due at each interval. I quite liked those. Can this make a return?

Anki discussion (no bug reports) - resolve - 2008-02-16

The problem was that the divisions were somewhat dependent on the default intervals, and if you change the default intervals the 'boxes' don't make so much sense. Plus the graphs better reflect the number of cards at a particular interval.

I'm not against it returning, but perhaps as a separate link with more granularity.

Anki discussion (no bug reports) - blackstockc - 2008-02-16

Hmmm... I just updated and after my first sync all of my decks seem to have been merged into the one that I was currently reviewing. And now I cannot access the online review section. Has anyone else experienced this?

Also, anki will no longer show about half of the cards in my Heisig deck. It reads: "invalid format; see model properties." As far as I can tell, there are no differences between these cards and the others.

Thanks!

Anki discussion (no bug reports) - resolve - 2008-02-16

What version did you update to? There was a bug related to sync on close in earlier versions, but it should have been fixed in 0.9.2.

(Please bring this up on the Anki forum, I don't want to annoy Fabrice with bug reports here)

Anki discussion (no bug reports) - vosmiura - 2008-02-17

I guess I just got used to getting a quick overview of the number of cards at exponentially increasing intervals. Since I was keeping records of those statistics, I like them the way they were.

The graphs show more detail, but I can't work out totals at a glance. I'd have to get out my calculator and work out areas on the graph Wink.

Anki discussion (no bug reports) - revenantkioku - 2008-02-18

Why is 2 now a 'fail'?
My progress was in the red and I was all "OMGWTF?"
I mean, what else would you pick after reviewing a card ten minutes later? Surely not a 4.

Anki discussion (no bug reports) - resolve - 2008-02-18

It's fixed in devel.

Anki discussion (no bug reports) - atreya - 2008-02-18

@resolve
A request, Will it be possible to implement a mass find and replace feature when editing a deck ? Or is it there already ?

Anki discussion (no bug reports) - resolve - 2008-02-18

Add it to http://ichi2.net/anki/wiki/FeatureRequestsAndSuggestions

Ah done, Thanks... ^_^

it should be obvious to those who have been using anki on a regular basis for a long time but I just began last week and I m still a bit "green"
I m using Anki both on my computer when I m home and from internet when I m at school.
When you synchronize with the internet server to what extent does it synchronize ?
i mean does it take into account your review on your pc ?
Because I have the feeling to have resumed from the very start .
Am I right ? same deck but different stats ? if it works that way I don't exactly see the point of sync . I mean the soft is awesome , far better than memozine or khatzumemo but I want to use it thoroughly and the FAQ is still quite incomplete.
How to use this function in the best way ?

1- how to make it take into account the review on both pc
2- how to make sync my pc with internet and in the reverse way (when i add cards from internet and when i add card on my pc )

Anki discussion (no bug reports) - resolve - 2008-02-25

Provided your deck doesn't have any errors in it, and provided you synchronise on startup and close, all changes (including reviews) should be synchronized. If something is not working right, please bring it up on the Anki forum.

Anki discussion (no bug reports) - ghinzdra - 2008-02-25

-Ok . I'll make a try with the auto sync . Even if I don't see why a manual sync isn't enough.
-But what about updating the stack of cards ? If I want to add cards on my PC it's fine : when I sync the deck on internet will be updated .
But let's say I want to add cards from internet . How can I can update my deck on my PC?It always works in the direction pc-internet not the other way around. I'm afraid to merge the deck on my pc with the one on internet and thus lose the updated cards .

Anki discussion (no bug reports) - resolve - 2008-02-25

You have 4 decks on the server. When you add cards on the server, are you sure you're adding them to the right deck?

(again, please bring this up on the Anki forums at http://sourceforge.net/forum/forum.php?forum_id=701801 to avoid testing Fabrice's goodwill :-)

Anki discussion (no bug reports) - atreya - 2008-02-25

@resolve

Is it possible to reset progress on individual cards now? I can't seem to right click and do that like the previous versions.

Anki discussion (no bug reports) - zazen666 - 2008-02-25

It the bottons on the top right

I like em too! How about a general guide: 0-3 months, 3-6, 6-9, 9-12, then 1+ years, 2, 3, 4, 5+? Nine total boxes in a bar graph?(Or make it ten to be Leitnerish!) It's really nice to see how your cards are moving along in bulk. I don't see it as a necessity to keep the intervals flexible.

Yoroshiku! Smile

I'm looking for the same feature but don't see it in 0.9.4. On the upper right corner of the edit deck window, I see "Actions on selected.." which have the following options:
Facts -> Add Tag, Delete Tag, Add Missing Active Cards, Toggle Delete
Cards -> Add Tag, Delete Tag, Toggle Delete

Can you provide a little more detail as to where the button is? Thanks!

Anki discussion (no bug reports) - resolve - 2008-02-25

This was removed from 0.9. If you want to reset the progress to give the deck to someone else, you can select 'reset scheduling info' in the export dialog. There should be no need to reset cards under normal circumstances

Anki discussion (no bug reports) - scout - 2008-02-25

Thanks for the quick response, resolve!

I think I may have mixed up the name of the feature I'm referring to. The feature I'm looking for is what you'd use if you accidentally hit the wrong key when answering a card (e.g. you wanted a 0, but hit 5.) I think it was called 'reset card' or something similar and was accessible by right clicking on the card in the edit deck window. After you did that, the card would show up as your next card to review. Is this feature still available?

edit: Just realized there is now an "Undo last answer" option under the Edit menu. Guess I missed that when I was looking before. Thanks again!
