It costs more, but it does more, too. I've been drooling over the eijiro dictionary and will probably download it eventually. I'm able to access edict dictionaries now from the touchscreen and save searches to a history file for later Anki input. It's a work in progress. Funny, learning a computer language to help me learn japanese. Two birds and a rock.

Getting it fixed involved calling them up and they came to my house and fixed it on the spot. Their laptops are also some of the cheapest out there.

It's hard for me to rate the touchscreen since I haven't played with a modern day pda or tablet. It is sensitive enough to pick up everthing you write if that's what you mean. I'm surprised at how well vista recognizes handwriting. It's not perfect, though. After calibrating the screen, the accuracy improved a lot. Originally, it was a few mm off. I recently put a protective sheet over the screen so I have to push a little harder now.

Edict is free, but more than that, I can use it with the touchscreen. True, though, some of the definitions aren't up to par. Before I was going roundabout through rikaichan's interface. A friend of mine is helping me with programming and I have a simple interface to use now. So, it's not REALLY software but it works well enough. It changes on a daily basis. I haven't looked into the Japanese side of software dictionaries yet.

I do like having EVERTHING all together. Anki gets lots of use. For looking up words on the quick, it's useless when it's not turned on so I use my keitai for that.
