Tofugu's Ultimate Japanese Vocab Combo Pack - Tykkylumi - 2012-09-11 http://www.tofugu.com/shop/ultimate-japanese-vocab-combo/ Has anyone tried this out? Thoughts/opinions? I got a $5 off voucher for it so I was thinking about trying it but would rather not spend my money blindly. Tofugu's Ultimate Japanese Vocab Combo Pack - Quufer - 2012-09-11 I've been a member of Textfugu since I started learning Japanese in January 2011, so I got these for free as part of that. They're decent, but if you've already gone through RTK, you're probably better off just starting on Core or KO instead. The Combo Pack has nouns, adjectives, and verbs chosen for their frequency, not for ease of learning readings, and does not include sample sentences of any type (audio or written). They include audio for individual words, most of which (IIRC) is by a native Japanese speaker, who my wife (also native Japanese speaker) says is pretty good. Even after going through the Textfugu nouns and adjective decks (before RTK1), and learning a bunch of vocab/readings via Textfugu post-RTK, I'm still now working my way through Core6k. I'd skip the middleman and just start on Core or KO, though granted my work on Textfugu has helped tremendously; it's just not clear to me whether the same amount of time spent on Core or KO wouldn't've been better. |
