Hey, I was just using my japanese input today as usually when for some reason the input went all wierd...it changed to the japanese input where each key is a kana character, instead if a roman input that converts to kana, like if I type 'ka' then it will give me か. but now If I want to type か I have to press 'T' .... this is driving me crazy and I cant figure out how to switch it back. HELP!

That's just another style of input, though it's rarely used even by the Japanese. At the risk of seeming like I'm trying to sound funny, why don't you google it?

Looks like everything in that thread is about the MS IME, not Google. And I couldn't find anything appropriate on Google either.
I went ahead and installed the thing, and it looks like you can change it back to Romaji input with Wrench -> Properties -> Input mode -> Romaji, which is almost the same as ChaosFreak's instructions on that SuperUser thread.

Seems like this suggestion from that thread also works if you have a Japanese keyboard:
On a Japanese keyboard, try Alt + the カタカナ|ひらがな|ローマ字 key (to the right of the space key).
