Half way! - blazen - 2011-02-03

Just hit the 1000th kanji and my energy is at an all time high. I celebrated by eating A 9 course meal at an all you can eat sushi bar. NEVER GONNA STOP ME! NEVER GOING TO STOP! =D

Half way! - MountainDewGuy - 2011-02-05

Hitting the 1000 was depressing. I was like "oh, so now I have to do it all over again to finish this dumb book I'm never going to finish".

Luckily, I would never quit and waste all that time. I'll never understand how someone can quit after getting to the 800+ or so mark. To come so far and then throw it all away is a crime...

Luckily, when scheduling my classes last semester I knew I wouldn't want to study, so I scheduled a three hour gap between my classes where I have nothing to do but study new kanji.

Half way! - mafried - 2011-02-09

Half way! I passed that mark early this morning, and finished the day at 1075. I'm actually more glad to be out of frames 700..900, which were really difficult for me. I'm still 25 behind where I wanted to be today, but it's smooth sailing ahead!

Half way! - mlorenz - 2011-02-10

Hit the halfway mark tonight, finally. Slower than I thought when I started, but I'm still at it and my retention rate is pretty good. Every new one added means I'm that much closer to being done...but when I get that far, what'll I do then for my commute? Smile

Half way! - mafried - 2011-02-10

KO2001 of course Wink

Half way! - bbvoncrumb - 2011-02-13

Hit 1000 (not quiiiite half way but, y'know) tonight. Thank lord for the Mr T mneumonic, those Kanji flew by easily. 全部もう一度、お願いします!

Would it really be a good idea? I'm just curious, because I'm also thinking about the course of action after I complete the RTK1, and so far I'm itching to sink my teeth into an Core 2000(and 6000) Anki Deck.

And I forgot - 2021! Half way there!

Half way! - Superfreek - 2011-02-15

Little past halfway today. Like bbvoncrumb said...thank you Mr. T!!!!!!

Either will do!

I am running through core2k atm then debating whether to followup with ko2001 or core6k ( both decks with sound are already loaded to my android device ^_^ )

IIRC, one common criticism against KO2001 was that many sentences weren't i+1. On the other hand, the word order was kanji-based and much less random than Core's. Luckily, there's a 'kore' deck floating around somewhere that's easy to sort by KO kanji order. Just thought I'd throw that in here. I gave up after getting halfway through 2k though, so I have nothing of further value to add. Tongue

What was the reason for giving up on 2k?

In that case here is the question for you - how are you managing with the japanese support on your android device? Are Kanjis displayed properly? I'm thinking of getting something like SE Experia Arc in the future but was worried how I'd be able to run Anki in there or pdf+text files in Japanese. Any feedback? Wink)

Out of the box my android supported Japanese characters perfectly.

I downloaded simeji, and now have a great japanese IME as well Smile

I commenced my tactic of reading + vocab mining instead.

I just reached frame 1026! ! (and I'm making my 1st post ^^) I couldn't have done it without this awesome website!!

As Dustin said, either will do. They're roughly similar.

I don't give much credence to i+1, so that isn't a problem for me.

Half way! - apirx - 2011-02-23

I've reached the halfway mark yesterday! <: )

Wanted to thank everyone for this great website! The user stories made it so much easier than Heisigs stories to blast through them kanjis.

What would you guys suggest doing after RTK for a beginner? Doing easy sentences (like AJATT suggests) or some grammer (Tae Kim maybe?) or starting out with basic vocab?

Half way! - jonokon - 2011-02-23

よっしゃ!

Reached the halfway point last night!

I think I'll stop adding for the next day or two, tie up some loose ends, then press on with the next 1000!

Uni starts next week so I just hope I can keep my momentum up :/

So about a month ago I was treading along the path of "Oh Hey I'd really like to know Kanji but it's impossible to remember how to write all those." Now this month I can see with new eyes as each Kanji becomes easier and easier to process. The more Kanji I know the easier this is getting. I know this is only the first step to becoming literate but I am climbing these stairs in full stride. Consistency is the only reason I'm here today taking the minimum amount as well as the maximum amount seriously.

on frame 1027 and counting thanks to everyone that has helped me get this far.

Congrats to those who have recently reached the half way point!!

I hit half way this afternoon. Big Grin I am so excited about it! I'm thinking about taking three days off from adding new kanji to get review numbers down a bit, but we'll see how I feel tomorrow after slugging through 280 reviews. Wink

Half way! - Oniichan - 2011-03-03

Reached halfway last week. It was a great feeling to finally get past the wall I hit at 800 kanji so long ago. Lately I've been steamrolling through the kanji thanks to all the useful characters hanging out on the left side of the kanjis. Everyone, thanks for all of the great stories. I know I wouldn't have made it this far without your help and encouragement. To all who've posted above, congratulations. It's all downhill from here. I hope to see you all soon in the 3/4 thread!

Half way! - mcaruso - 2011-03-18

Woohoo! Just finished lesson 27. I really wanted to get half-way before my exams come up, now I can take it easy and just stick to reviews for a while.

Don't think I could've done it without this site, so thanks fuaburisu and everyone else. Smile

becoming more used to kanji feels awesome. Keep going and eventually people around you will be saying "how can you read/write these?"

(edit: need to heed my own advice)
