Half way! - YogaSpirit - 2009-11-20 I can add my name to the club. Just a beginning, still rewarding. Half way! - Captain Kanjipants - 2009-11-22 Hit 1022 today! Thanks for all of the helpful stories! Hopefully I'll be in the 3/4 thread in about two and a half weeks
Half way! - intermu - 2009-11-22 I'll be tackling 21 more kanji and hit the halfway mark in a few minutes. 2 months. With like a 2 or 3-week break from new kanji in the middle. ![]() Oh well. 2 months is still good.
Half way! - Koos83 - 2009-11-22 Yes! I've finished lesson 26 (I think it was) and I'm now on 1026 kanji, which means passing the half way mark!
Half way! - Dustin_Calgary - 2009-11-30 Half Way! ( for the third time ) I got through the book once I got to 1400 last time I keep losing internet and time cause of moving etc. I FINALLY have a stable place to stay whil doing this book. I am planning on doing the second half of the book ( last 1050 ) this week ( 150/day for 7 days ) I am at 43 today so far and am not a stranger to the odd large day, and was doing about 100/day on my first go through. I had another blip at about 700 and had 600 reviews piled up so I had to mow that down in 2 days before going forward. It's going to be a fun week, wish me luck Half way! - ojousan - 2009-12-07 What a relief! I just reached 1021, after 2 months, 7 days (I started October 1st). My retention rates are still ~90%, so I'm hopeful... Half way! - sokino - 2009-12-08 First post. I just hit 1000 kanji (started October 24th - with a few breaks). I am resolved to finish RTK before New Years so I can get into real Japanese next year. Just in time for a New Year's Resolution. Half way! - bflatnine - 2009-12-14 Passed 1000 today. Finally. I'm officially up to 1015, so it isn't technically half-way, but close enough. I'm planning on finishing both RTK and RTH during Christmas break. Blogging daily about it here. Half way! - aberu - 2009-12-14 This is the first time I have ever felt like being able to sit down to read a good science-fiction book in japanese is only a matter of time. Here we go, 1003 to go! What a rewarding feeling
Half way! - Alexi - 2009-12-17 I reached 1024 today (1030 to be exact). I'm adding about 30 new cards a day. Interestingly enough I haven't really made any stories myself. I usually just pick the story that has the best rating. I use anki for the reviews. So far this strategy has been going quite well: 99% correct for the mature cards and 87% for the young cards. Thank you ファブリス for making this amazing site. You have nice community here Special thanks go to Wasurenaide! You made my day at the 1024 mark
Half way! - Koos83 - 2009-12-18 sokino Wrote:First post.Sounds good. I might try to get to the 3/4 mark before New Year's. Won't be easy with all the festivities planned. XD But it's a good New Year's resolution.
Half way! - bladethecoder - 2009-12-29 I reached 1026 today =) Half way! - Sproing - 2010-01-14 1026 kanji today! Only 1016 left...
Half way! - Koos83 - 2010-01-14 Yeyy well done everyone!
Half way! - inertia - 2010-01-15 I reached 1100 kanji this week! Half way! - kunzen - 2010-01-18 First post. Just finished Lesson 27! 1026 down! Whew! Many thanks to those who have gone before and have provided such great stories! They have been a godsend! どうもありがとうございました! m(___)m Half way! - jesse - 2010-01-20 Wahoo! Just added 1021! Started in December and I hope to be finished adding by the end of Feb! Best story so far: 谷 and "Yea, though I *enter* the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for I have brought my *umbrella* and if anything frightens me, I will open my *mouth* and scream for help!" Thanks for the great stories so far! -Jesse Half way! - shamano - 2010-01-20 Congratulation Jesse, I'm taking so long ( 2 years)
Half way! - rosenafglenn - 2010-01-21 Just reached 1085, after 11 days. I started last-last December at the rate of about 100 a day, and then, uh, got distracted by my significant other. But he's a year ahead of me (He's in college; I'm a senior), so after he went back from winter break, I started over again. The reviews aren't really that bad. I review a couple of times a day, so I rarely have to do more than 40 or so at a time, which doesn't take more than 10 minutes or so... Adding is a pain, though, unless I break it up into groups of 20. The stories I make are awful*. I'm not creative at all... so I'm relying mostly on the ones from the site... The Shakuhachi stories were awesome (as were the Mr. T and the Pee ones). *At about 800, I started to lose some steam. Then I realized - "Oh, it's hard because my stories are TERRIBLE." So I switched to using stories from here. Much, much better. Half way! - hereticalrants - 2010-01-24 rosenafglenn Wrote:"Oh, it's hard because my stories are TERRIBLE." So I switched to using stories from here. Much, much better.Huh. My retention rate plummeted when I relied on these idiots for my mnemonics, and I stopped using this site as my SRS just so I could avoid those stories when I was going through failed cards. (Seriously, when I already have a story, I don't want to see yet another stupid ambiguous euphamism excuse for a story) Half way! - lagwagon555 - 2010-01-24 hereticalrants Wrote:My retention rate plummeted when I relied on these idiots for my mnemonics, and I stopped using this site as my SRS just so I could avoid those stories when I was going through failed cards. At least he had the goodwill not to share a "stupid ambiguous euphemistic excuse for a story" of his own. Didn't he?Not all his posts are heretical. I just looked at his last few. None were as antagonistic and spiteful as the one above. Still, he wasn't insulting anyone in particular, just the system itself. That he could just use Anki or maybe "Not Scroll Down" the screen to see the other stories when re-studying missed cards is besides the point I guess. Lesson 27 done; I am half-way! Breaking the 1000 mark felt surprisingly good. Nevertheless, this wouldn't have been possible without this wonderful site. My thanks go out to all who have gone before and shared their stories. Now, if only I can keep this pace, I'll be done in about 3 weeks. It'll be rough, starting with ~200 reviews tomorrow, but I can't stop now, right? |
