Please help Media for "CORE 2k and 6k" ipad - dsesno - 2012-05-26

Im trying to put Core 2k and 6k with sounds and picture media on to my ipad. It seems to work fine on my mac but i cant get it to work on either my ipad or iphone. Can someone explain how im supposed to get the media and regular files onto my iphone? Can this be done all at once? Are there separate files? Does anyone know where these files are located??? Anki has shared decks but im not sure what to download. Your help is GREATLY appreciated!

The current version of Anki doesn't sync or download media along with the deck. You have to copy them over manually. (Anki2 will sync media, but it's not released yet). Find out where your decks are stored on both your Mac and iPad. You should see a directory called your_deck_name.media. Copy that folder from your Mac to your iPad. (It's possible your iPad may not have that directory yet).

I'm not sure what the specific directories are on Apple devices, sorry. Be sure to read the anki docs if you're having anki problems.

I do this all the time. No, you can't do it all at once, it's a three step process.

Step 1: sync just the deck onto your iOS device (no media yet) via AnkiWeb.

Step 2: sync the .media folder (just the media, no deck) using iTunes File Sharing. Make sure the .media folder has exactly the same name as the deck on your iOS device (ex. my deck is "Core 2000" so mine is "Core 2000.media").

Step 3: Once the .media folder is synced over, go back to Anki on your iOS device and "sync from iTunes." Anki will find the .media folder you copied via iTunes, and merge the .media with the original deck.

Step 4: 焼酎お湯割り and 勉強 with your audio-integrated Core2K deck.

You probably want to back up your device after that, then Anki will retain the media if you have to restore your device.
