Reading+Listening combined learning - deekun - 2012-05-12 Hi, I'd like to study native Japanese resources that have corresponding audio and text. For example, video games where the script is read outloud by the game characters or narrator (preferably DS or Wii). Or podcasts that include the transcript or such. I want to be able to link the kanji and their readings in context without looking it up each time and also to combine listening+reading practice. What would you recommend? (Preferably JLPT 3 to 2). Reading+Listening combined learning - nadiatims - 2012-05-12 While it's great to have audio for whatever you're studying, you shouldn't be too picky with your resources or you'll spend a lot of time searching, and a lot of time using resources that aren't interesting to you. Actually you should be picky about using materials that are interesting, but it's not really practical to stick only to stuff that has audio and transcripts. As long as you are spending time listening to stuff, and also spending time reading stuff, the two skills will start to reenforce each other. It may also improve your listening skills better if you have to rely on the audio alone, and vice versa. A lot of games have spoken dialog with subtitles, but only visual novel type games will let you replay the voice for each line. Sharin no Kuni is pretty good and all of the characters are voiced, if the sex bothers you then get Clannad w/ voice patch.
