Pronunciation: とお/とう こお/こう - aircawn - 2007-11-13 With verbs such as 凍る and 通る, do you just extend the お vowel a little longer like you would in 空港? Cheers. Pronunciation: とお/とう こお/こう - ziggr - 2007-11-13 Yep. Developing an ear for doubled vowels and doubled ん is probably the best reason to use language tapes, or at least watch a lot of Japanese-language TV. (J-POP doesn't work so good for this: music will bend words to fit the tune. I learned early on to never trust songs to teach pronunciation or grammar.) Once you can stop mispronouncing prince (おうじ) as "uncle" (おじ) or "grandfather" (おじい), you're doing good. If you can stop calling women (おんな)"vegetables" (おな), you're doing better. |
