Diablo III (and Path of Exile) - thurd - 2012-04-27 I had a ton of doubts about D3 over the last year or so, it seemed like all changes were going in the wrong direction and the game wouldn't be fun anymore. But when I finally got my hands on beta and played with it for like a week or so, testing various systems and nearly maxing all characters I concluded that the fun is still there and in fact its way more fun than D2 ever was at that point in the game. Atmosphere and art style is brilliant imo, much darker and closer to 1st game. I've never bought into this whole "art controversy" thing because it was ridiculous considering how colorful and plasticky D2 looked. There are nice touches like simple ripple effect on grass texture when you're walking, that gives you the feel of movement without the need of gazillion polygons and textures just for grass. Game art is well polished, will not get old quickly and actually returns to "dark fantasy" roots of D1 (it could be even darker but it isn't so deal with it). Skill system is actually really smart and again imo better than what we had so far. You'll get new toys almost every level up to your cap (wasn't the case with D2) and there are more of them (skills) thanks to runes. Sure there are no points to be "spent" each level but that doesn't mean you don't make choices as you level up, I often had huge problems deciding which skills to use since so many of them are really fun and useful. I'd also want to point out that skill points weren't really that important in D2 as many would like to think, everyone would just put 1 or 20 in their chosen skills and that's all "strategy" there was to it. Might as well replace that with 1 and 0 for uses skill/doesn't use it. That gets me to my last point, permanence. In D2 we had skills and items for that but in reality considering how mechanical skill points were and how easy it was to get your character into 80s it always was about the items. Diablo series always was about items first and later about skills (but using them not putting points). Now in D3 items are even more important than ever since its literally thanks to them that character customization and permanence is done!! See those green numbers in skill descriptions? They will change when you equip items that suit your particular build/skills of choice, this is how you commit to your build. This is actually how you've always done it, thanks to items (remember 30+ in Frozen Orb?). Diablo III (and Path of Exile) - ファブリス - 2012-05-05 Diablo 3★The Black Soulstone Cinematic★ [Original]Official Diablo III [D3 CutScene] Trailer Wowowow. That sets the tone a lot better than anything I saw in my short time playing the beta. Diablo III (and Path of Exile) - ファブリス - 2012-05-05 Woohoo! All Diablo II cinematics, some with Japanese subs. Diablo 2 All Cinematics [Cutscenes Deleted Scenes Trailers] http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL02BD282E8420C92A I always remember Marius' voice, and Marylin Manson, I mean, Baal! Diablo III (and Path of Exile) - turvy - 2012-05-05 Looks pretty cool but I have no idea about what's happening. And when she cries so hopelessly in the end, that confused me a bit (maybe because I have no idea about what's happening.). Diablo III (and Path of Exile) - ファブリス - 2012-05-06 Man, you're overthinking this lol. They're BAD. And she's GOOD. She cries because the EVIL guys are going to destroy all that she loves, they're going to burn her little dolls and eat her mother and children, and polute everything by dumping tons of rotten bodies into the oceans, etc. :oIt makes me chuckle when I try to imagine what happens if the bad guys win. What the hell would they do when all there is left is "evil"? If Germany won World War II there's some room for imagination. But when these humongous beasts who feed on innocent people's souls and flesh have won, what the hell do they do? Diablo III (and Path of Exile) - s0apgun - 2012-05-06 Eat each other? Diablo III (and Path of Exile) - captal - 2012-05-08 I've been patiently waiting for D3. I'm building a new computer for D3 (and as a media computer) I say building instead of *built* because I waited for the new Ivy Bridge chips to come out and bought a brand new Shuttle box to compliment it. "Supports 3rd generation i7!" is written right on the box, but the BIOS that came with the Shuttle motherboard didn't support Ivy Bridge. Long story short, Shuttle is mailing me a new BIOS (it's on a replaceable 8-pin IC), so I'm crossing my fingers that is all that's wrong, and that I'll be up and running tomorrow night. There goes any thoughts of Japanese study I was having... Diablo III (and Path of Exile) - ファブリス - 2012-05-09 Since Path of Exile was mentionned, I thought I'd let you know that they have an open beta weekend this weekend! http://www.pathofexile.com/publicweekend/#q5 Diablo III (and Path of Exile) - s0apgun - 2012-05-17 my battletag is driftwolrd#1606 looking forward to playing with people tonight! Diablo III (and Path of Exile) - TheVinster - 2012-05-19 TheVinster#1161 38 wizard. Diablo III (and Path of Exile) - Nagareboshi - 2012-05-19 Now that DIII is out, half the world is on the barricades, with burning torches and furious Amazon évaluations, Rezensionen, reviews, カスタマーレビュー, etc. http://www.amazon.de/product-reviews/B0041O5LNM/ref=cm_cr_dp_hist_one?ie=UTF8&filterBy=addOneStar&showViewpoints=0 http://www.amazon.co.jp/Blizzard-Entertainment-Diablo-III-%E8%BC%B8%E5%85%A5%E7%89%88/dp/B00178630A/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1337484166&sr=8-1 http://www.amazon.co.uk/product-reviews/B0030DH9R6/ref=cm_cr_dp_hist_one?ie=UTF8&showViewpoints=0&filterBy=addOneStar http://www.amazon.fr/Blizzard-5030917102608-Diablo-III/dp/B002V931LI/ref=sr_tr_sr_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1337484793&sr=8-2 http://www.amazon.com/Diablo-III-Standard-Edition-Pc/product-reviews/B00178630A/ref=cm_cr_dp_qt_hist_one?ie=UTF8&filterBy=addOneStar&showViewpoints=0 And lots and lots of them 1 stars, actually funny to see how people complain, that they can not connect, that they experience numerous errors, that they can't play offline, how blizzard is earning on the players sales, and so on. And the official b-net forums are also a fun source to read http://eu.battle.net/d3/en/forum/4436696/ errors, disconnects. It must be a joyful experience for many players.
Diablo III (and Path of Exile) - suffah - 2012-05-19 @Nagareboshi Launch day issues aside, game has been solid for me. And I'm running it on Linux to boot. Diablo III (and Path of Exile) - ファブリス - 2012-06-04 Sweet sweet patch 0.9.10 coming tomorrow for Path of Exile. I'm hooked! Currently going through Merciless (4th difficulty) with a level 50 character. I'm taking notes for hardcore. Some people already play hardcore while the game balance is being finetuned which is kinda crazy I think, as the difficulty can really spike now and then. ![]() As someone commented on their forum, it's not exactly a Diablo 2 successor as it shares similarities both with Diablo 1 and Diablo 2. All passives and skill gems are in theory usable by any "class", but it can cost more skill points if you, eg. try to arch from the duelist to the witch passives. And if the duelist wants to use the blue gems like Ice Nova then he has to pump INT otherwise you can not level up the skill gems high enough. You can see how the passive skill tree works here (f key for fullscreen): Items can be linked directly in the forum, which is pretty cool, here is a list of uniques found by beta players. And for the programmers here recently I found they have a video where one dev explains their randomized dungeon generation algorithm: Path of Exile - Random Level Generation Presentation As for Diablo III, I did get to try the Windows version eventually and it was running fairly stable 30 FPS on my 4850M, so the Windows version ran a lot better than the Mac one. Also interestingly it's the only game so far I have tried that seemed to benefit from D3DOverrider. There was one area where my 4850M at 2560x1440 was dropping to 24 ish FPS with the fog (and lower shadows details), and with D3DOverrider it stayed near 30 FPS, pretty cool. I dont' know why it doesn't help with Skyrim or Path of Exile for that matter :/ Diablo III (and Path of Exile) - ファブリス - 2012-06-23 Grinding Gear Games, developers of Path of Exile is doing a "Build of the Week" series showing some high level gameplay: Diablo III (and Path of Exile) - ファブリス - 2012-07-23 Path of Exile Public Stress Test Weekend #3 is this Weekend! Diablo III (and Path of Exile) - ファブリス - 2013-01-17 And thanks to Gaijinme who brought it up before me =) It won't require a 10$ beta key in a week's time. If you enjoy it, it will be very exciting in a week as everyone will be starting from scratch after the character wipe, there is a pretty insane fan site that tracks all races and events: http://poestatistics.com/default/exp-gains/daily/today/ Enter a user name and you can track your characters, and all previous races: http://poestatistics.com/users/def46/ Also Twitch PoE streams: http://poestatistics.com/streams/ Kripp of Kripparian makes really nice videos introducing the mechanics: http://www.youtube.com/user/Kripparrian/videos?view=0 He's one of the better players out there and he'll be streaming almost every day: http://www.twitch.tv/nl_kripp ps: I wish I had a fix for my poor arm >_> Diablo III (and Path of Exile) - Gaijinme - 2013-01-17 I will try and listen to Michel Thomas Japanese while playing POE OB HC so I wont feel bad about time wasted. Diablo III (and Path of Exile) - hirata - 2014-03-22 ファブリス Wrote:I got an email for a promotion for Diablo III, it's 20 € until March 24.People should also keep in mind that the only way to play the game in Japanese is with the Japanese version on the PS3. That said, I'll probably end up buying the game anyway (though I totally shouldn't) P.S.: It's $20 for those in the U.S. Diablo III (and Path of Exile) - s0apgun - 2014-04-30 Anyone playing the expansion? I just started a hardcore crusader its pretty fun. |
