I need someone to proofread my ItMJ Workbook assignments - PkmnTrainerAbram - 2012-04-05
Introduction to Modern Japanese Workbook, that is. I know these dialogs are basic and it may be to formumatic, but I'm doing it anyway via reading, speaking each dialouge, writing each dialouge on paper, and choosing the ones that I feel are giving me the slighest bit of doubt. I'm going to update this thread once a week with my written answers from the book so I can get some feedback on them, since the Workbook doesn't come with an answer key.
These these following examples were we were supposed to substitute words in the sentences and finish the dialogs. Here is what I wrote.
a)これはなんですか。
ぞれはノートです。
それもノートですか。
いいえ、これもノートではありません。
b)あなたはがっこのせんせいですか。
はい、そうです。
あのかたも、がっこのせんせいですか。
ええ、あのかたもがっこなせんせいです。
c)これはテレビですか。
はい、そうです。
あれもテレビですか。
いいえ、あれはテレビではありません。
d)ジョンはイギリス人ですか。
はい、そうです。
あの方もイギリス人ですか。
いいえ、あのかたはフランス人です。
These were exercises we were supposed to translate into Japanese.
Is this your father's car?
これは父の車ですか。
No, it's not. It is my mother's.
いいえ、母のです。
Is this your pen?
これはあなたのペンですか。
Yes, it is.
は、そうです。
Is this also your pen?
そねも。
No, it is not. It is my little sister's pen.
いいえ、妹のです。
Is that a Japanese tree?
これは日本の木ですか。
Yes, it is.
はい、そうです。
And is that a Japanese tree over there?
あそこも日本の木ですか。
Yes, it is.
はい。

Is this your father's car?
これはお父さんの車ですか。
No, it's not. It is my mother's.
いいえ、母の(車)です。
I just had something like this corrected on Lang-8. はは and ちち are familiar ways of referring to (but not actually speaking to) your parents. You wouldn't use them to refer to someone else's.
Is this your pen?
これはあなたのペンですか。
Yes, it is.
はい、そうです。
Is this also your pen?
それも(あなたのペン?)ですか。
No, it is not. It is my little sister's pen.
いいえ、妹の(ペン?)です。
Typos aside, you need to keep politeness levels consistent. I think you can get away without the bits in brackets, but it's probably more polite to keep them in.
