Tae Kim seems to pretty fundamental to me, personally. I simply read his pdf several times to get down the basics and otherwise I'd just recommend you reading and looking up phrases and expressions in DoBJG etc.

You can always use the Tae Kim clozed delete deck that's up on Anki's shared decks. I'm going through it right now and it's pretty nice. There's also a deck for DoBJG that you can use.

I just downloaded the nihonbunkei jiten one and it is quite good!

The 8547 sentences deck is excellent, with hardly any typos left, and you can just insert your own comments as needed.
The Dictionary of Basic Japanese Grammar/DIJG/DAJG books are available in Japan, just not particularly cheap. They can also be found as PDF on the web, but that's of course not what the cool kids are supposed to do, I've been told.
