Cool new Japanese project on Kickstarter - tabbykitty - 2012-02-21 Cool new Japanese project on Kickstarter - vix86 - 2012-02-21 Quote:Sensei Pack ($1000+) - To really get you going with your Japanese language learning, receive five (5) 60-minute sessions of one-on-one Japanese language instruction with an actual Japanese Sensei!.... Cool new Japanese project on Kickstarter - Jarvik7 - 2012-02-21 What do they need $3000 in funding for? It's just 300 characters from kanjidic printed onto a smallish poster. 300 characters is less than a week of RTK study for most of the site's active users.. You sure you're a long-time reader here and not a spammer (this is your first post)? I could throw that together in an afternoon with a few scripts and send it off to kinkos for $5-10. There is no capital investment required to get this product moving. I'm guessing the video on the page is old, because there are no QR codes or stroke orders for each kanji (nor space for them) as described in the text. In terms of design, I recommend ditching the black border with the ugly font at the top. Its tackyness really detracts from the attempt at an attractive woodprint-like design. It's also pretty dangerous legally to sell a product called Genki in the same market as a major textbook called Genki that follows the lesson order of Genki (and was probably typed in directly from the appendix of Genki)... Cool new Japanese project on Kickstarter - Tzadeck - 2012-02-21 (Edited: Yeah, since they registered a few months ago I'll give the benefit of the doubt to the OP. I don't, however, think this poster would be a useful thing to have.) Cool new Japanese project on Kickstarter - biAtch - 2012-02-21 I love that the posters are SIGNED! Because that's what collectors are looking for. Long time reader registered 3 months ago. Cool new Japanese project on Kickstarter - Jarvik7 - 2012-02-21 I think the whole concept of a kanji poster is worthless as a study tool. However, something like the kanji poster that sponsors this site can be useful as a motivational tool since it lists all the Joyo and you can mark off kanji as you learn them. A poster with only 300 kanji is especially worthless unless you never really plan on learning Japanese and just wallow around in beginner-dom forever. Cool new Japanese project on Kickstarter - turvy - 2012-02-21 Quote:http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/genkikanjiposter/learn-japanese-with-the-genki-kanji-poster@biAtch Yeah, me too, so you can boast to your friends that also have the poster about your limited edition signed copy… Here is the really cool Japanese project, already funded, from which I found out about kick starter some time ago: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/osarusan/the-night-parade-of-one-hundred-demons?ref=search Cool new Japanese project on Kickstarter - SomeCallMeChris - 2012-02-21 The 妖怪 Illustrated Bestiary, pretty cool. The poster... not so much. Cool new Japanese project on Kickstarter - aphasiac - 2012-02-22 from the kickstart link: Quote:As an example, some of the resources we came across would, believe it or not, teach the kanji for words like "gall bladder" and "fish guts" very early on! It is much more fun when you learn and can apply the kanji for the vocabulary you are learning instead of spending time learning kanji for seldom used words.Nice! Knock the Heisig method in your pitch, and then ask for funding on a forum dedicated to the Heisig method I agree with Javik7; I can't see the point of this as a study tool. Motivation maybe, but not education. Also from the video, I can't see where stroke orders are meant to go, and also a lot of space seems to be wasted on the right hand side. Instead of several blank spaces, why not put more kanji or print them bigger; seems like poor design. My big issue is; what exactly is the $3000 for? Posters like this can easily be printed on demand, like the guys from kanji post do. Seems like this is just a way to get publicity and generate a large number of pre-orders, which you'll then use to do a batch print-job and make more profit. Pretty sure that's NOT what kickstart is designed for.. Cool new Japanese project on Kickstarter - Jarvik7 - 2012-02-22 aphasiac Wrote:why not put more kanjiBecause it's just the same kanji from the Genki 1/2 textbooks in the same order. Basically they put the appendix of Genki on a photocopier and pressed enlarge. I totally want a signed copy of that. Cool new Japanese project on Kickstarter - Thora - 2012-02-22 aphasia, do you have some kind of problem with people earning money? Why be such a hater? What business is it of yours to accuse the OP of not following the rules? Besides, why do you care what other people spend their money on. If you think you can make a better poster, go ahead. No one's stopping you. You're probably just jealous you didn't think of it first. I bet you can't even afford one. Most people find this poster enormously helpful, you know. Prove to me that others are less beneficial. Really, right now. Cmon. Oh, and I think the OP is a nice guy. ;p (memories...haha) Cool new Japanese project on Kickstarter - Jarvik7 - 2012-02-22 Trolla?
Cool new Japanese project on Kickstarter - Thora - 2012-02-22 heh, beats being Tora-san. You said you were blocking me, using some special Firefox add-on to hide/ignore my posts? OR..was that all just BS, used as a quick way out when you were obviously losing an argument?   Cool new Japanese project on Kickstarter - caivano - 2012-02-22 I would have thought you'd need a better idea than this to get some money on kickstarter... I guess that's good to know^^ |
