scientific writings and articles in Japanese ? database... - GreenDragon - 2012-02-21 Hi, everyone. I am quite happy right now as I am allowed to write my bachelor's thesis not on the subject I am majoring in (social science), but on my second subject, which happens to be Japanese. However, I am confronted with a problem… For the paper one must use predominantly Japanese material, and find at least 7-8 articles that have been published in magazines. - The thing is, - I don’t know where to find scientific writings in Japanese. I have yet to do a thorough google search, but maybe someone can help and recommend a few resources out there (preferably databases like http://www.jstor.org/ , just well…, Japanese articles only…) The topics I would be writing about will most likely be linguistics, Gengogaku that is. (stuff like Kango, collocations, Kanji processing and Kanagaki etc..) Would be grand if you could help. Thank you. scientific writings and articles in Japanese ? database... - Mumei2501 - 2012-02-21 As you likely already knew there's google scholar. Wish I knew of fancier options but that's all I've got. Is the topic of the paper Japanese language, social science or something else? There might be some specialized resources that'd be good for medical studies but not for what you need. scientific writings and articles in Japanese ? database... - vix86 - 2012-02-21 While there are journals in Japanese. A significant amount of research still gets published in English in English journals by Japanese scholars. You are very likely not going to find very many articles about Japanese in Japanese. I once looked for articles on Japanese linguistics to see what there was. I found some but I recall the articles being in English, that I did find. Even my brief searching Tokyo University's e-journals (http://vs2ga4mq9g.search.serialssolutions.com/) doesn't pull up anything. I do recall finding a book in my Alum's library that was basically a book of summarized research articles on various parts of the Japanese language (I think there is a term for these type of compilation books). I'll see if I can dig the title of the book up again via card catalog. scientific writings and articles in Japanese ? database... - Bokusenou - 2012-02-21 Have you tried JAIRO? Or maybe CiNii? scientific writings and articles in Japanese ? database... - vix86 - 2012-02-21 My Uni's library has more books now and I can't recall any of the title. What I was thinking about though was "annotated research bibliographies." They provide a starting point for checking out/finding articles to read. This MIGHT have been the book I was thinking about. My uni's library has it so its a good chance its it. I need to look at closer. Japanese Psycholinguistics: a classified and annotated research bibliography EDIT: This was the book I was thinking about. I remember the section on Orthography (I had been interested in the study of Kanji acquisition by native learners at the time). It looks like you can read the entire book on Google Books. Cool. scientific writings and articles in Japanese ? database... - GreenDragon - 2012-02-23 @Mumei2501: google scholar is fine. @Bokusenou: Yeah, JAIRO and CiNii are the kind of sites I was thinking about. @vix86: Tokyo University's e-journals is a good database too! Found some articles on 言語… The Kess and Miyamoto book — just priceless. Everyone, thanks a great deal for your help. Please feel free to add to this list. Thank you. |
