Visitor twice in a year? - avelicu - 2012-02-16 Hey everybody, I'm in Japan now, I was here since December 2011 visiting my girlfriend, but I'm going to have to leave soon. I entered Japan as a Romanian citizen on the basis of a visa exemption agreement, and was given permission to stay for 90 days. I am wondering if I will be able to return to this wonderful country for another 3 months or so in summer, again as a visitor, in the basis of the same agreement. I haven't found any reliable information regarding how many times you can come back for 90 days. I did find an older thread (2009) on this forum regarding so-called "visa runs" but I don't want to do anything illegal or risk being deported (because I am expecting a study visa for the next year). I am wondering if anyone has any concrete experience or official facts to share in this regard. Thanks! Visitor twice in a year? - vileru - 2012-02-16 Contact the Japanese embassy in your area. They'll have the most reliable information. Visitor twice in a year? - Jarvik7 - 2012-02-16 Yes, you can. Visa runs are people working in the country illegally and leaving Japan for a few days every 3 months to maintain a legit-appearing status. If you truly are in the country to visit and you have a return ticket home, you will be allowed in. Visitor twice in a year? - onafarm - 2012-02-16 I worked in Japan for several years (for a major Japanese company) on tourist 90 day visas. Visitor twice in a year? - Irixmark - 2012-02-16 Jarvik7 is right. I've done the same many times. As long as you're not just hopping over to Korea for three days, but actually come and go and have a return ticket to prove it, you're fine.
