can you rent dvds in japan if you stay at a hotel? Anything I will need to show them besides passport?
Since Tsutaya its not very close I dont want to go and not be able to rent some dvds.

You need govt ID with an address. If you are a visitor you won't have any (gaijin card, drivers license, etc).
