I mean food literally. Tongue

I noticed that I don't recall kanji as well as I normally do when I've eaten poorly the previous day (think McDonalds). Are there any foods/snacks you guys recommend, that will make my brain happy?

It all depends on which kanji you are studying. For example, if you are studying kanji with 魚 in them, sushi is good, but if you are studying 禾 kanji then ramen or yakisoba is better.Smile

Food is an important part of every culture, and Japanese culture more than most. If you are studying Japanese, eating the food is a good idea.

Hmm...makes sense. I'll try to eat more Japanese food. But I meant like...you know how runners eat pasta the day before a long race, because all those carbs are good for the body? Is there anything like that for your brain?

By the way, what is 禾 kanji?

Try omega-3 pills, I take them every day, or just eat good ol' fish.. The fatty acids are good for brain and memory.

The Wiki sounds really great (minus the risks). I think I'll actually pick up a bottle today.

I tend to just eat whatever (hard to eat right when you live on campus). However one important thing is to drink lots of water. Most people are chronically dehydrated, which has all kinds of effects on the brain and the ability to learn.

I suggest natto (fermented soy beans) and Durian for B-6.

...and if you want to skip the Durian, that's completely understandable. Smile

Watchout for nato breath
though ^_^ (about 1/4 into the video).

That was so funny. I picked up some fish oil (Omega-3) supplements. I guess it's too early to judge them. I'll update in a few weeks or so if I found any noticeable differences.

Going back to the video, watching it I noticed the character 幅 was being used a lot. And I'm thinking, "so they have to jump through the equivalent of a 49cm hanging scroll?"

I wonder why that keyword was chosen...and if there are a lot of keywords like that? Because that would be kinda...odd.
