If you took the test in Japan then results are out on August 28th. If you applied online in Japan last time then you will be able to check your results online with that same login information here: http://info.jees-jlpt.jp/

I applied for the exam in India and wrote it in India. The application form had a column where I filled up a password to check the results online. There was nothing mentioned about registering separately to check the results online. Am I missing something here?

Check out this pdf, there is a column for filling an 8 digit password for checking the scores online.

Different countries handle the reporting of results differently. So what applies in India doesn't really apply in Japan or Canada or the US.

So I have no doubt that you're correct about how to check your results in India, but it's not going to be that way for other people.

how many words do I need to know to pass jlpt N3?

2012 JLPT Study Thread - Zombiewski - 2012-08-27

For those that have taken both the N5 and N4, how much of a leap above the former is the latter?

A little background: I started studying Japanese just before the 2010 JLPT but didn't feel quite confident enough to take the N5 at that point, so I studied my butt off and waited for the 2011 test. I passed it and immediately started studying for the N4. But just before the N5 my son was born, and after the test I quit my job to become a stay-at-home dad. I try to study whenever I can--at least an hour a day--but it's a far cry from being able to study 3+ hours a day (I had a customer service job at a desk, so I could have my text and flash cards in front of me literally all day), and I'm not sure I'm quite up to the N4.

The $50 isn't really the issue--I've budgeted for the fee, pass or fail--it's more I don't want to waste my time/take up a seat if I'm going to fail miserably.

All that to say, to those who've been there before: stretch myself and go for it or ramp up my studying and wait for next year?

2012 JLPT Study Thread - Zgarbas - 2012-08-27

I took my N5 and then promptly stopped studying and my Japanese level was very, very low. I only restarted studying in September the following year, around 1 hour a day+basically spent the 3 days before the exam reading Minna no Nihongo back-to-back repeatedly. Passed the N4 in December without much difficulty. Go for it!

BTW, if you have the ability to ramp up your study time, I'd say do that and go for the N3 Smile.

Plan on going for it at late 2013, can't wait Big Grin

July JLPT Results for the Japan test are out! Check them online here

I passed N1 with 121/180. 40 on Vocab/Grammar, 47 on Reading, and 34 on Listening.

I'm not sure what my problem is with the listening part, but I think lack of context and general test format throws me off. I tend to get really bored during it, and then I start to space entire questions.

I'll take the December test too just to see if maybe my score improves, but I'm not sure it will. I should probably drill listening more to even that score out since I do have a listening drill book I bought, but never really used.

When will results be posted online for the rest of the world. I sure remember filling up a password to check the results online when I was filling up the application form.

Congrats erlog!

I'm considering doing N3 in December... I have done RTK, Core2k, Tae Kim, and some passive listening. Thoughts? Suggestions? Can I do it? >.<

It'll be tough but I think there's enough time to study everything you don't already know.

Thanks for the congrats everyone. I'm pretty stoked to be past this point of my studying. I feel really comfortable moving on to areas I really want to study rather than chasing after this kind of certification. It feels kind of like a weight's been lifted off me.

This is all up to the sponsoring organization in your country for the test. It's a different process in different countries. I got my results today because the Japanese organization, the primary one, released the results online. This should also mean that sponsoring organizations also got a digital version of their results today since all the tests are shipped back to Japan in order to be graded.

You should be able to get your results soon. You should be checking the website for the organization where you signed up in India, and they should have instructions.

Thanks for heads up erlog. I just called up the host institution and they informed that they will receive some kind of link from Japan and that they will post that link on their site or mail it and I can check my results online.

And I can understand how you feel. The July exam was my 5th attempt at N1. I really hope to pass this time so that I can focus more on other areas rather than working towards obtaining the JLPT certification.

@erlog, congrats!

I'm also rooting for you on the 漢検. You'll have to keep updating with your status on that big 漢検 thread. You're up to at least 3級 or 準2級, right?

Oh man don't remind me, I feel uber stumped these days and I'm not sure whether I feel prepared for the N2. But going for the N3 would be anticlimatic.

I'm also preparing for the December test, and though I know N2 would require a ton of studying, I know how you feel about going for N3. I can't decide whether I want to make a crazy attempt for the more meaningful N2, or probably pass the not-very-useful N3 quite easily.

Congrats erlog!! That's a pass by a nice margin.

I decided to go for the N2, even though there's a pretty good chance of me failing it. I'd rather have a near miss at the N2 than a pass at the N3 in the end Smile.

I am doing N3 after pass N5 and N4 in 2010 and 2011 respectively. I have just started core 2 and always done with RTK

2012 JLPT Study Thread - coinbaahd - 2012-09-02

Yay I passed N2 surprisingly! I didn't think I'd pass. Here's the breakdown. 110/180; Language Knowledge 40/60, Reading 22/60, and finally Listening 48/60. I did better than expected on the language part and worse than I thought on the listening. I took N3 last December, N2 in July, and now it's time for the main event in December, N1! We'll see how that goes... Anyway, congrats everyone and good luck with the next one!
