How do I start RTK Lite?! - arisingsymphony - 2011-11-24

You'd think something so popular would have a sticky post or something?

I've read a lot about this RTK Lite version of learning and I want to do that... But two questions:

(1) WHERE IS IT?! Am I jsut not looking in the right places, or is it a special part of the book (that I have yet to purchase)?

(2) If I do RTK Lite, will I still be able to use RtK Volume 2? It seems like if I did the Lite version, then I'd have to skip over half the kanji in RtK2.

Thanks in advanced--so confused!

1) Somewhere on the forums I think. It's just a list that you're meant to use in conjunction with the book.
2) As you guessed, you would just use RTK2 for the learned in RTK1. A lot of people seem to think that RTK2 isn't that good though, and there are a lot of other ways you could learn the readings.

OH. Well that helped. I think I may have found it then? Is it the one on this list?

Thanks Smile

******EDIT******

Okay apparently the best list I've found is the one made here:

http://forum.koohii.com/showthread.php?pid=80718#pid80718

which gives not only the numbers, but the kanji next to them. This is immensely helpful, because not only are there DIFFERENT NUMBERS to the kanji in the newest, 6th Edition of RTK1, but each list I find on the site seems to have their own different idea of which ones are even included at all!

So for poor souls who are struggling like me to find out which ones they're supposed to be studying in RTK Lite, here you go. Once you get the book you'll have to look for the kanji, not the number, until someone enlightens me with an up-to-date list.
