Orange First - taijuando - 2007-10-14 Whew!! I just finished reviewing kanji that I had let expire for months. After I cleared up the piles I had a whopping 1302 failed kanji left. I need to work on my stories though some kanji were just at the tip of recall, and make sure that I always work through expired kanji first---just like the homepage said many moons ago when I discovered this website. Don't make my mistake!!! Orange First - kyotokanji - 2007-10-15 I had a similar thing before when I went on holiday for a couple of weeks. Meant a couple of hundered kanji in my failed box, very irritating. Goes to show that doing expired cards daily is always of the greatest importance. For me, more important than learning now ones. Orange First - alantin - 2007-10-15 Yeah! Las summer I didn't have a way to get to internet very often for months and I basically had to start over. I had about 600 cards in my deck then and now I'm down to about 450. Haven't had time or resolve to learn new ones for weeks BUT I do the expired cards every morning! Otherwise I would just forget them again and it would suck even more! !!!! Expired cards = first priority !!!! Orange First - CharleyGarrett - 2007-10-15 And what I have realized is that this is best for learning too...I mean, it IS the crucial point of the Leitner concept. You want to review them right at the point of forgetting them, for greatest conversion from short term to long term memory with the least amount of reviewing. But if you wait to long, even just one extra day, then it'll be almost (but not quite) like starting over for that memory. The other day, though, I had 145 expired cards! I hate it when they all expire together like that. Orange First - taijuando - 2007-10-17 I think it's okay to spread 145 cards like that over a couple of days. When you do Anki the level for review is randomized. If most of those cards are in the longer term review, I don't see any problem with doing it over a few days. Just make sure you do it. |
