Learning 行書、草書 - mottles - 2011-10-27 Does anyone know of any dictionaries which have examples of what certain characters look like in 行書 or 草書? I've seen a couple sites that teach the basics of how to write a few radicals in cursive, but I've never found them intuitive enough to be sure if I could guess at how the cursive form of a certain character would look. From that you just keep your pen down near the paper and write fast. Bam cursive. English cursive was brought about in much a similar fashion really, I think. I don't have enough background to recommend one in particular, but I can take a look at the ones I have. If you want to learn how to do calligraphy properly, I'd recommend finding a teacher, though. I think a book that teaches the fundamentals of writing in 行書 or 草書. However, any book that I find and recommend will be only in Japanese. Do you want to write your own cursive forms in a way that other Japanese people can read? Do you want to do 書道?
