ta12121's Transcription and Translation Project Thread - ta12121 - 2011-10-09 Here I'll post stuff I'm working on and release subtitles as well for the videos. I'm working on trailers at the moment and short videos for transcription reasons. I'm currently working on FF13-2 trailers and will go onto other projects very soon. (Want to do a few projects every week so I can make transcribing skills better) ta12121's Transcription and Translation Project Thread - ta12121 - 2011-10-09 First Project is this FF13-2 Trailer: FF13-2 Jp subs ライトニングはもう 死んだんだ! ta12121's Transcription and Translation Project Thread - jishera - 2011-10-10 Cool thanks! I was actually wondering about that exact trailer. Could you also post an English translation? ta12121's Transcription and Translation Project Thread - ta12121 - 2011-10-10 jishera Wrote:Cool thanks! I was actually wondering about that exact trailer. Could you also post an English translation?I'll get working on that soon. I'm trying to do 1-2 transcription/translation projects a day(nothing long, 1-2mins or short paragraphs for translations) ta12121's Transcription and Translation Project Thread - DevvaR - 2011-10-10 Never mind。 ta12121's Transcription and Translation Project Thread - magamo - 2011-10-10 It seems you write みんな as 皆, but I think kana is more common when it's not みな. If you prefer kanji, 皆んな is an alternative way to distinguish between みな and みんな in writing. Here are some typos I noticed: 貴方は夢に出てきた should read 貴方、夢に出てきた…… (i.e., は is not there.) あの隕石が落ちたらし should be あの辺に隕石が落ちたらしい (You dropped へんに before 隕石 and final い.) The line at 0:35 is probably an ellipsis (i.e., 貴方は……), though it could be a question. ノエル願いは 何? should read ノエルの願いは、何? (You missed の.) オーディン is a more common spelling. The line by the blue haired character at 1:47 is quite hard to hear, but I think it's something along the line of こっち 早く! I think you got the other guy's line right. ta12121's Transcription and Translation Project Thread - ta12121 - 2011-10-10 magamo Wrote:It seems you write みんな as 皆, but I think kana is more common when it's not みな. I have to be more careful because I know when it comes to transcribing, I miss a few things here and there. I'll edit it out and add the correct ones in ta12121's Transcription and Translation Project Thread - keikei - 2011-10-10 jishera Wrote:Cool thanks! I was actually wondering about that exact trailer. Could you also post an English translation? all the ffxiii-2 trailers are available in english as far as I know. it might be difficult to find interesting videogame stuff that is jp-exclusive. i'd probably pick some good movies with subtitles available ~not in japanese~ and go from there, if i was you. you wouldnt have to do the timing and people could subs2SRS that stuff. it will take longer to finish projects but you won't run out of interesting content. there's a bunch of awesome movies out there without japanese subs. pretty sure that dorama haters would love you

At the moment I'm doing FF13-2 trailers in jp because I'm going to be getting this game when it comes out (jp version). I'm also working on some anime trailers (bleach, naruto, etc). I'm going to transcribe some news stuff (one that doesn't have subtitles, because this one is an older one).jishera Wrote:Cool thanks! I was actually wondering about that exact trailer. It's true that 事 and 分かる can be written with kanji, but as pudding cat points out, they are written without kanji most of the time. It sounds to me like the end of that line is わからない. It might be わからね, but it's definitely not わかれね. ta12121's Transcription and Translation Project Thread - ta12121 - 2011-10-10 JimmySeal Wrote:ahh yea your right. Small error but it does need to be corrected and as for the kanji usages, I am known for liking there kanji equivalents but I understand it's best to stick with the more natural way of writing it. Should have it done soon and this and this (3 project is enough, don't want to drown myself) ta12121's Transcription and Translation Project Thread - ta12121 - 2011-10-17 Hey does anyone have any methods or good tips on improving transcription skills? It's something I actually want to get into to. Any tips or ideas would be helpful Thanks in advance! ta12121's Transcription and Translation Project Thread - aphasiac - 2011-10-18 ta12121 Wrote:Hey does anyone have any methods or good tips on improving transcription skills? It's something I actually want to get into to. Any tips or ideas would be helpfulA obvious tip; but why not try transcribing a few songs / movies / dramas that already have (native) Japanese transcriptions available? The harder the better (try and push yourself). That way you can transcribe, then compare your results with the native version. Any confusing differences, ask for clarification on here or lang8. Once your transcriptions start to 99% match the official ones, then your work is done! ta12121's Transcription and Translation Project Thread - ta12121 - 2011-10-18 aphasiac Wrote:Makes sense, so I transcribe something to the best of my abilities and compare it with professional subtitles in Japanese or at least correct jp subs. Compare results, see where I went wrong and see the kanji in that usage. For some reason, I kinda know when it's wrong at times(a lot of times, I can miss the little sounds that can make the transcribe sound weird, so I gotta becareful on those types).ta12121 Wrote:Hey does anyone have any methods or good tips on improving transcription skills? You'll learn alot from seeing your own mistakes and working out why they're wrong. Same deal as posting finished transcriptions on here and lang8, just quicker and more efficient. p.s. Maybe I'll just talking crap as I've never tried this; just makes sort of logical sense to give it a try! ta12121 Wrote:For some reason, I kinda know when it's wrong at times(a lot of times, I can miss the little sounds that can make the transcribe sound weird, so I gotta becareful on those types). This is actually an issue I ran into when practising listening to native Japanese media. Certain words / sounds are hard to hear or even dropped all together in normal conversation, and it's up to your brain to use its previous knowledge of the language + context to fill in the blanks. We do it all the time in our L1 and probably don't even notice. For example, I get a bad phone call and hear my friend say "so what t--- do you wanna meet for dinner?". Can you guess the missing word? Seems trivially easy cos we've heard that pattern 1000's of times before. In fact I could probably miss out any word in that sentence and you'd be able to fill in the blank; that's where you need to get with Japanese. EDIT: on a side-note, I remember the J-Drama 'Nihongo no shiranai nihonjin' had very literal subs. They seemed to transcribe exactly what was being said on screen, including umm's errr's, contractions and dropped syllables. I made a subs2srs deck and it took ages working out what the hell some of the casual sentences were meant to mean because of this. You can get it on D-addicts; not sure if it'll help or not, but was suprising to see exact subs compared to say The Matrix (where the Japanese voice dub and subs don't really match). ta12121's Transcription and Translation Project Thread - ta12121 - 2011-10-18 makes sense, guess I should find subs and then transcribe them to the best of my abilities and compare. Plus I can double check and see how it works with the context. I know there is a site that transcribes anime songs in full, those are helpful and fine(and hard, all at the same time). |
