Cheaper Shipping Methods? - ta12121 - 2011-10-07

I plan on buying this game (or potentially pre ordering it by the end of next month). I remember a place that could potentially cut the shipping price in half (since ordering from Japan is expensive). Does anyone have any suggestions on how to cut the shipping down a bit at least?

http://www.amazon.co.jp/%E3%82%B9%E3%82%AF%E3%82%A6%E3%82%A7%E3%82%A2%E3%83%BB%E3%82%A8%E3%83%8B%E3%83%83%E3%82%AF%E3%82%B9-%E3%83%95%E3%82%A1%E3%82%A4%E3%83%8A%E3%83%AB%E3%83%95%E3%82%A1%E3%83%B3%E3%82%BF%E3%82%B8%E3%83%BCXIII-2/dp/B004K6L0DG/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1318047544&sr=8-1

I did also look on play-asia site and did see a difference in price between the Jp version and the Asian version (same thing, just the Asian one also includes a Chinese book and also subs in the back of the game case). I know because I have an asian FF13 (it's the jp language version but it's the "Asian" version)

Only thing I can think is to use a deputy service. There are a lot out there. I have yet to use one but I know some people that have. They can save you a little money by shipping by cheaper/slower methods.

I recommend you Yesasia
http://www.yesasia.com/global/en/home.html

They have Free International Shipping for orders past certain amounts (40$ I think). I've been getting my japanese books from there for a while.

Edit: Looking at the regions they accept for that service, it doesn't seem to include Canada... It may be cheaper than Amazon anyway, the shipping costs are insane there.

Amazon Japan doesn't ship games internationally anyway, so that's not even an option.

I've always bought my games from playasia, personally, although I usually wait to get them used on ebay.

And as you mention, getting the Asian version is often a better deal since it's typically exactly the same as the JP one except that it (usually) comes with a small insert card that gives short explanations in Chinese and (usually) English for the basic controls of the game and such.

yea, I might as well just wait and get it off ebay a few days after the game is released but as I remember last time, I was lucky to get the game at a low price (FF13 at the time)

The shipping price of play-asia varies, there's always the cheaper version but no insurance on the item, while the other version usual is the opposite (higher price, like 12-15$ and insured)

Hmm let me see if can work around this somehow

they do ship to canada it seems, they just have a different site.
just saw the jp version of FF13-2 on the site and it's cheaper than play-asia but not by that much but it's free shipping. Just let me see how much it is after it's taxed

yea I know, I have the asian version for FF13. It's basically japanese but with an extra chinese booklet in chinese and chinese characters in the back of the case, along with the Japanese ones.
