Hi guys, I used to live in korea, and even though I'm studying japanese now, I would still like to improve my korean. does anyone know of a program that could generate a list of say.. the 10,000 or 20,000 most frequently used words?

I know for Japanese there are anki decks already made, but unfortunately for korean it looks like i'll have to make my own.

It seems like there would be some kind of program that could scan online documents and come back with a list.. "there are a few lists online but they only go to about 6000 at most".

If anyone knows, this would help me a lot. Thank you! Smile

If you already have a list of 6000...

Words beyond this mark are pretty rare no matter what language you choose. A list beyond that mark won't be helpful.

You can generate your own frequency lists based on any material you choose. You need to go here and investigate "cb4960's word frequency list generator." You can also download a pre-compiled list called "frequency list for Japanese novels."

well, if you're going for native-level fluency I don't think 6000 is very much. There are several people on here who used Anki and memorized "Japanese core plus" which is more than 20,000 words.

but alas there is nothing like this for Korean (ㅡ,.ㅡ)

If anyone else knows of a list like this please feel free to answer.
