Then if somebody happened to upload a file with that name to a free filehosting site, it would be as easy to find as a Google search. Also maybe a field that mentions if it's currently available or not.

Well I already own webhosting and I don't think they would appreciate warez on their servers Tongue

But I mean really, if you want to download something either it exists or not, if it exists the name is usually all you need. Come to think of it, there could be a beginners instruction section that teaches you things such as how to use perfect dark.

This idea is starting to sound more like a Japanese eccentric warez site now.

OpenSpoon? - Kyosys - 2011-08-30

there will be no warez damnit Big Grin

plus there already are japanese-centric warez sites

this sounds like a great idea!!! i would love something like this!!!

one thing i'd like, is for it to be able to send one page of a site... for example, i love this site:
http://bimyo-kotoba.com/b-back.html

but usually i read a bunch of pages, then forget about it for a while, then go back & read a bunch more. would it be able to send 1 page per day consistently, for example?

also, how do you stop content from being repeated for each person?

I can copypaste the first 120 days of AJATT SS, but Khatz would probably not like that very much.

AJATT SS is full of links to illegal content. I see no problem with OpenSpoon doing the same.

How's that possible? o0 He's making money with having illegal content linked in his articles? Cool stuff-.-

OpenSpoon? - Kyosys - 2011-08-30

it is? Wow, that seems kind of wrong to do especially for a site charging money

edit: but yeah I guess links to torrents or whatever would be okay since it's pretty much inevitable to pirate stuff if you don't live in japan

Any Youtube link of something copyrighted is an example. There are millions of them in every language. It's basically Youtube links.

OpenSpoon? - TwoMoreCharacters - 2011-08-30

Are you saying that linking to youtube videos would be illegal?

OpenSpoon? - jcdietz03 - 2011-08-30

No, I don't think it is. It's a "link to illegal material," which is legal in my opinion. But I'm not a lawyer.

I guess SilverSpoon must be something a bit like this, but with Japanese and links to online media:

Daily Challenge Presses You To Do Something Good For Yourself Every Day

As long as the owner has a passage in his / her disclaimer that the owner of the website cannot be held liable for the content of other websites he / she links to, it is not illegal in Germany. In Australia it is illegal to place a hyperlink to websites containing illegal material. In the US the DMCA is very strict, so it should be illegal. In Austria it is pretty much the same as with Germany, it is legal. In Spain they have article 21 regulating hyperlinking and take down procedures, but I don't know much about law in Spain never bothered with it. So it's different in each country, but there are safe havens such as Norway or was ist Finland or Sweden? I think it was Sweden. Just in case. Then again, who is ever going to check websites created for fellow language learners? ;-)

My suggestion for a name Pandoras Coffee Mill - Your way to fluency with a silver lining. Smile

Oh, you meant that linking to videos that by themselves are infringing on the copyright laws is questionable? Well that's for sure, I think we should go with Nagareboshi's conclusion ^^

OpenSpoon? - Kyosys - 2011-08-30

My server is actually located in the US, but if you're talking about youtube videos I don't think it's gonna be a problem. I figured you meant rapidshare links or something. Even if it is, you always get a warning first so it's not really that much of an issue.
