Hey guys, just a quick question from a beginner.

When learning vocab, do I learn the kanji or just the hiragana? ie 見る or みる?

I assume you learn Japanese, so, yeah, you need to know a) reading b) writing (kanji) c) okurigana, all of them. I don't understand your question though.. After Heisig you should not learn like 'usual' kanji and vocabulary separated. They go hand in hand.

Ah, thank you!

I was a bit confused but this makes sense.

you also need to know the sounds as well

i met up with a japanese person and she said something like "この店は混んでいるね”

i didn't recognize 混んでいる verbally, but after trying to clarify, i realized it was a word that i already knew if i saw it written down but wasn't used to hearing it.

that was kinda embarrassing

Oh, I forgot to add "sound", d). You also must be naturally able to decipher what you hear Big Grin (which I'm not good at)
