Amazon is expensive for manga.. but then I don't know about international shipping. Book off sometimes has mangas for 100 yen, but i don't know if they ship out.. and how much.

I buy from Kinokuniya here in the US. They have a few stores, and their shipping is a lot more reasonable than shipping from Japan.

ugh.. the prices make me cringe. I've been pretty spoiled by buying manga near my wife's family's house in 千葉. It's amazing how much the prices differ out here in the country compared to 東京. I can get brand new manga for only 250yen/ book.

@animehunter... send me an e-mail and i'll send you some links

Where in Chiba can you get 250en manga? I've only seen new manga for the RRP...

well if yo don't mind used though the quality is pretty good still go to book off. they probably sell naruto for a dollar each.

Book-off is cheap, and I recently found out why. A few weeks ago, I handed them over about 20 or so books and manga and got a grand total of 110yen. :O

I wish they had a Salvation Army or something similar in Japan

Looking for Naruto Manga in Raw - Hashiriya - 2011-07-27

well i don't know about a Salvation Army... but this place: http://www.wonderrex.jp/ has a lot of nice used stuff in it for dirt cheap prices. I'm derailing this thread a little though by posting it hah. In case you haven't figured it out... i'm a bit of a bargain hunter.

Yeah, same. I couldn't care less about the money. I knew it would be peanuts but still that's like 5yen a piece. Seeing as I've never seen stuff sold there for less than 100 yen that's a pretty sweet profit. I also heard that Book-off is associated with soukkagakkai, a somewhat cult-like buddhist organisation with political influences. I lot of Japanese people I know really hate Soukkagakkai.

pudding cat,
I couldn't find a link on that site to drop-off points for donated items or stores where you can shop and buy those items. They don't seem to have the same business model in Japan.

Interesting store Hashiriya

Looks like they only have one shop in Tokyo, I suppose the Salvation Army isn't very big in Japan.
