How to study failed cards - Marble101 - 2012-07-03 Once you fail a card in Anki [or any other SRS], what do you do? Do you go back and study the failed sentences, or do you simply move on and try to pass them tomorrow? How to study failed cards - gombost - 2012-07-03 I rate it "hard" when it comes up again even if I miss it on the second try. How to study failed cards - howtwosavealif3 - 2012-07-03 I do that too . Obviously you can't remember the answer now, so it's unlikely you will remember it on the next day. How to study failed cards - Nukemarine - 2012-07-03 Depends on the situation and the type of card. Kanji cards are about the writing, the primitives, the stroke order (sometimes), the story, and maybe the onyomi if you're testing that. As such, you should have the extra information available on the card even if you're not testing it. When I miss it, I can look at the card itself to review any information that'll help me next time. Similar things happen with grammar cards. I have to include a lot of information on these cards that are not being tested. Mainly it'd be format of the grammar, detailed explanation, location of where I got the info, etc. Again, the reason I want it on the card even if I'm not testing it is so it's right there when I miss it and need to review. Vocabulary cards are more straight forward. Usually the most I have to do is include a not about what words are not the answer or additional clues (such as situation or politeness level). Only reason I put all the extra info on the card is because I'm too lazy to go into the book or website to restudy. Doubly so for when I'm offline and can't connect to the internet in Tae Kim's case. TL-DR: Immediately study the card you're going to mark as wrong, treat it normally after that. How to study failed cards - gombost - 2012-07-04 Inny Jan Wrote:No, actually it works quite well for me. Most of the time I only make a small mistake and I usually know the answer on the next day. I used to study failed cards a bit or fail them until I knew them but after some experimentation it turned out to be needless. I know it exactly when I have almost absolutely no clue about an answer and in this case I try to relearn the card immediately and I can usually remember it when it comes up 10 minutes later. Sometimes I miss the card again after a few reviews but it sticks pretty soon.gombost Wrote:I rate it "hard" when it comes up again even if I miss it on the second try. What's the reason for that? I also hide the due dates on the buttons in Anki and I feel that my reviews are more efficient. |
