thanks for the links, really helpful. Nowadays, playing FF games aren't hard for me anymore. There is still a few vocabulary words that are unknown to me in that game(going to srs them pretty soon).

keikei Wrote:yea, japanese people pay a lot more for games. the strong yen doesn't help. lucky there's asian versions now! I got tales of xillia 30$~ cheaper that way. but it seems like this won't apply for the asian FFXIII-2 edition.
How's Tales of Xillia? I was thinking of picking it up. My wife is heading back to Japan for a week and I'm thinking about having her pick up a PS3 for me and grabbing a bunch of the "tales of..." games. I played Tales of Rebirth on the PSP a couple times and loved all the voice acting. I even turned the game to as easy as possible because I'm only concerned with the dialogue, not the battles.

Any other recommendations for dialogue heavy games? Are any of the FF series worth getting (though I heard I can get some on PSN, so I won't worry about those). What version of the PS3 is best to get now?

Xillia (and Vesperia) are two of the best, if not the best, jrpg's of this generation, in my opinion. XIII was a big let-down - I didn't even finish the game.

When you say "heavy dialogue", do you mean voice acting only? The Tales games are great for voice(albeit the dialog is nothing too advanced), but if you want text heavy dialog, try the Sora no Kiseki series on the PSP. There was a recent US localization of the first game. I'd give First Chapter (英雄伝説VI 空の軌跡) a chance, it should be pretty cheap in Japan now. Heck, your wife could probably get the entire trilogy for dirt cheap. The first two games in the sequel trilogy (confusing yet?) are also out in Japan.

I want heaving voice acting- it keeps me entertained to have someone read to me Wink

I'm making a list for my wife to have a look at the local Book Off when she goes home. However, now I'm thinking I'll buy the PS3 once I move to Australia so I can use it as a DVD/Bluray player. It sounds like I can still play Japanese games and download Japanese PSN content, so I'd be happy.

Get the new slim, I know there's 120gb and there is one that is 320gb nowadays. The slim has a very low chance of breaking down than the fat ps3 that first got released.
As for FF games, the past games were on ps1, so there isn't any voices. I personally bought FF8 off the jp psn store and I'm almost done(I loved this game because I played it when I was a kid). There making an HD re mastering of the FF 10(ps2 for the ps3). That game has dialog(voiced).

I have FF13 and I did enjoy it, but most people complain because you can't explore as much as you did in the past FF games. Other than that, the game wasn't bad.

Xillia is surprisingly good. I've never been a big Tales fan but i like this one a lot. Some of the characters like Milla or Alvin are pretty cool. The music is great so far, seems to be a lot better than in the previous games. The camera is no longer static and i'm even starting to enjoy the battles which used to be my main issue with Tales games.

A lot of people praise Tales of Graces F for its battle system, apparently its the best in the series. This guy explains it very well: http://www.gametrailers.com/video/combat-mechanics-tales-of/722000 It actually got me interested in the battle mechanics, its not all button mashing after all Big Grin

So i'm gonna try Graces & Vesperia when i'm done with Xillia. Other than that Ni no Kuni looks promising, it even has Furigana. There's an Idolmaster 2 demo on PSN now, that game has a lot of voiced dialogue too. It was rather funny, not creepy like I expected lol. Check out these games on youtube, there's a bunch of "let's play"s & trailers.

And yea, definately get a slim, the fats are very unreliable. None of the older models seem to last very long. Don't take your wife back unless she comes home with a Lightning PS3
