Online thesaurus - shaydwyrm - 2007-09-20
Anyone know a decent online thesaurus for Japanese? The dictionaries I normally use (WWWJDIC and Sanseido) don't seem to have a thesaurus option, and just looking up the English definitions in the English-Japanese dictionary doesn't seem very effective (or reliable).
More generally, do you find using a thesaurus useful for your Japanese studies? I met a guy the other day who tried to convince me that a great way to increase my vocabulary would be to learn bunches of synonyms all at once. I've always thought it better to learn one way (each) to say lots of different things first, and then later on add extra ways to say the same things as they come up. Maybe it would save time in the long run, though, to map a bunch of words to the same general meaning all at once. What do you think?
