Anyone else on Google+ yet? I can see I'm going to be sharing some JP and language stuff that I won't be bothering to post here, so I was wondering if anyone else was doing the same.

http://gplus.to/wccrawford for anyone who wants to follow my public stuff. There'll be other stuff mixed in, like programming and anime and stuff, I'm sure.

I'd follow you, if I had an invitation to work with Wink

Ditto. Tongue

I wonder if this thread will turn out like the Google Wave thread last year where forums members started handing out invites to others so that they could experience the "wave." Smile

Google+ - marcmiddag - 2011-07-08

ahm, sorry not to be opportunistic but anybody has an invite left?
Google+ looks so much more ++ than facebook -
I cant wait. Yeah I had an early invite for Google wave but somehow I was ? a bit underwhelmed by it...

Google+ - wccrawford - 2011-07-08

At one point, anyone with a GMail account could get in. I dunno if that's still the case.

Try this link https://plus.google.com/u/0/115020047545912887550/posts/B7k4hM7AiKp and see if signing in will let you join.

If not, message me with your email and I'll see about sending invites, first-come first-serve. I have a link to send them, but don't know how many there are.

Edit: Changed out the link for a public one.

Google+ - Copycatken - 2011-07-08

Your pasted link talks about trained cats? I don't think that's the correct one Tongue

Google+ - wccrawford - 2011-07-08

lol Yes, that's the correct one. It's posted on my G+ Profile.

But if signing in there didn't work, then I'll have to send invites the old-fashioned way... Soo... Message me on here with your email and I'll send it off.

Google+ - Copycatken - 2011-07-08

Thanks wccrawford! Your e-mail invite worked Smile I'm ready to help share the love, so I'll also be giving out a couple of invites. You can e-mail me too for an invite.

Google+ - martinh - 2011-07-08

Thanks for the invite Copycatken!!, I can send out invites if I'm emailed also.

Google+ - caivano - 2011-07-08

I don't think you can get in even with an invite at the mo. Which is a shame cos it looks way better than facebook and I've been waiting for an excuse to get out of that.

I just joined thanks to an invite from martinh - thank you Martin!

I'll also send out invites if anyone needs one.

A word of warning, although I haven't tried this myself a friend mentioned to me that when they set up Google+, if you check their Google+ profile on a mobile device, it shows your address, cell phone and stuff openly even if you choose to hide it.

You look like a redditor Tongue
(the stuff you share)

Google+ - GreenAirth - 2011-07-09

It looks like I've lost the ability to send out invites. Is everyone else the same? Google seem to be really throttling this at the moment.

I've never been able to get along with Facebook but I'm liking this much better at the moment, though to be honest there isn't really that much to it. I think I need more friends (泣) before I'll be able to judge how well it works.

Google+ - wccrawford - 2011-07-09

Yup, no invites right now. They must have hit a limit again.

Google+ - marcmiddag - 2011-07-09

So far I really like it. The possibility to make circles of friends is immense in my opinion.
That is a really big thing and it is implemented so easily so you can really have a group of friends where you share important things or have a good chat instead of the Facebook model where everything is open for everybody in your friend group (only 1 group that s it)
And then not to mention the notion of privacy. It seems to me that the notion of privacy has been completely ignorated by Facebook. They collect the data and sell it to third parties. Not only that is fishy but they force people to open more and share more so they can get market trend and so on.
Google might do this as well in the end but it looks less blatant in your face.
And where every update of Facebook reset the privacy settings leaving the user naked on the web, here in Google + it seems from the beginning that they take this aspect at heart
and it is very clear how to select the privacy levels.
There is ways to go before the release but the first impression is very good.
I dont wanna have 2000 unknown people that like what I say. I just wanna have meaningful interaction with a bunch of them and share the good things of the web..

Google+ - Blahah - 2011-07-09

What are people's profiles? mine is http://gplus.to/blahah

Google+ - wccrawford - 2011-07-09

http://gplus.to/wccrawford here.

Google+ - marcmiddag - 2011-07-09

mine is https://profiles.google.com/u/0/101056989710269459810
hm why is my profile URL so long?

Google+ - Blahah - 2011-07-09

go to http://www.gplus.to/ to get a shortened profile url Smile

I like G+ a lot, I'm totally ready to ditch facebook and it looks like G+ has worked out how to balance real-life and online social groups (circles). Would be good to have a large J-learning circle on there.

Google+ - marcmiddag - 2011-07-09

Yay thanks! Link doesnt work right now but will try later!
Yeah a Koohii circle will be nice!

Google+ - GreenAirth - 2011-07-09

I'm here -> https://profiles.google.com/u/0/111483974326059070005

This could turn out to be a great way to share all kinds of information, experiences and impressions centered on all things Japanese. Looks promising.

Google+ - Copycatken - 2011-07-09

I find it kind of strange that there's no way to post something directly on another person's profile.
