anki help - TGWeaver - 2007-09-19 how the hell do i delete a card? is there a way to do this? am i just missing something? i'm running the latest edition... help!! anki help - meolox - 2007-09-19 I can't check right now I'm on a different computer but i believe you go to "edit deck" in the menu and delete the card from there, if the card has two facts "recognition" and "reproduction" you'll need to delete both of them. anki help - resolve - 2007-09-19 right click :-) anki help - TGWeaver - 2007-09-19 and how do i right click on a laptop? anki help - danieldesu - 2007-09-19 If you are using a macbook, go to system preferences -> keyboard and mouse -> trackpad -> check the box that says "Tap trackpad using two fingers for secondary click." Then you can hold down two fingers on the trackpad, and when you click the mouse button, it will be a right click anki help - plac0011 - 2007-11-22 Apologies for what seems to be a very basic question: I can't figure out how to display Japanese within Anki at all (i.e. for the interface or the sample flashcards). Otherwise there is no problem with displaying Japanese fonts on my computer (such as on webpages etc.) so I'm a bit puzzled... anki help - JimmySeal - 2007-11-22 I think Control+Click also accomplishes the right click function on Apples, but I'm not sure. It's one of those buttons. anki help - resolve - 2007-11-22 http://repose.ath.cx/tracker/anki/issue246 anki help - plac0011 - 2007-11-22 Hmmm... strangely enough there don't seem to be any encoding problems when using the web version. anki help - resolve - 2007-11-22 linux? win98? anki help - morph - 2007-11-23 plac0011 Wrote:Apologies for what seems to be a very basic question: I can't figure out how to display Japanese within Anki at all (i.e. for the interface or the sample flashcards). Otherwise there is no problem with displaying Japanese fonts on my computer (such as on webpages etc.) so I'm a bit puzzled...I had the same problem with the flashcards (anki 0.3.6) go to "display properties" under the "edit menu" with "Field 1:Kanji" highlighted look below and where it says "Use custom font" select "Arial Unicode MS" I changed the question and answer fonts over to Unicode and haven't had a problem since. anki help - plac0011 - 2007-11-23 Ahhh... many thanks for the tip! I seems as if Arial Unicode MS is not installed on my machine (though, being XP, it should be). I was never unduly bothered by this as Japanese encoding for everything else works fine (Word, IE, Mnemosyne etc.). But Anki seems to be a bit more picky... anki help - morph - 2007-11-23 No prob. I just picked the first Unicode font I saw on my computer, but of course not everyone's computer has the same fonts! Perhaps it has to do with the font used when creating the deck and Anki's default font setting if the user doesn't have that same font? (just guessing) I see there's here's some help on installing fonts in this thread, if anyone's interested further: http://forum.koohii.com/showthread.php?pid=12100#pid12100 anki help - leosmith - 2008-03-01 I just posted this at the anki forum, but haven't got a resolution yet. I get so little time off, and this is it, so I'm anxious to create my decks. I know there are lots of mac users here, so If you know the answer, thanks in advance! Leo ______________ I just downloaded Anki. I'm using a mac laptop. I want to import an excel spreadsheet. I tried to follow the instructions in the FAQs. I came to a stop at 5.In Anki, click Deck and then Import... because I couldn't find "Deck". So I went to the help section on creating a new deck. I was able to create an empty deck, but mine doesn't look like the one in the screen shot. There are no Deck/Edit/Tools/Help menus. It looks like I'm missing a toolbar. My mac is brand new, and I've never used one before. So maybe I installed Anki wrong, but I'm able to use the sample decks. Can anyone tell me how to get that toolbar? anki help - guppy - 2008-03-01 Hi Leosmith, If you look at the top of the screen. The white bar all across the top of the screen, while Anki is running will have Deck, Edit, Tools, Help listed. Each of those words have corresponding menus. I've never had that bar missing. If there isn't one, I would assume something is wrong. That bar is always there, What version of Anki are you using? Can you upgrade or reinstall? That may help. That's a wishy washy answer, sorry. anki help - leosmith - 2008-03-02 You're right guppy - it's not part of the anki window where I was looking; it's at the top of my computer screen. Thanks! anki help - wrightak - 2008-03-02 I wrote the instructions that you're following, if they're unclear in any way or don't work then let me know and I'll adjust it. anki help - resolve - 2008-03-02 Welcome back to Japan btw, wrightak :-) anki help - wrightak - 2008-03-02 Thanks! Great to be back. anki help - leosmith - 2008-03-03 wrightak Wrote:I wrote the instructions that you're following, if they're unclear in any way or don't work then let me know and I'll adjust it.I think your instructions are very useful, actually. I failed because I'm a mac newb. I should have known where the toolbar goes. Some more questions: 1. I've been messing around with Japanese a little bit, and it works fine. But I also want to use anki for other languages. I started with the standard "premade quiz" Japanese deck, cleaned it out, and am trying to use it for Thai. I'm having trouble properly displaying Thai script everywhere. I tried changing everything in the display properties to Thonburi, which is a Thai font, and then I tried copying what was done for the Japanese template. In the learning window, Thai script shows properly in the question side, but not in the previous card text. In the Edit Deck window, it shows up properly in the current facts, but not in the big list. Anyone know what I'm doing wrong here? 2. Can someone describe a typical review session? Do I need to hit a "learn" button? Is there a final review? 3. What does syncronize do? Is it only for syncronizing between computers and the internet? anki help - wrightak - 2008-03-03 I answered your questions on the Anki forum. I don't know about the problem you're having with Thai though. If you haven't already, bring it up on the Anki forum and if it's a bug, stick it in the bug tracker. |
