Japanese TV Streams - TheVinster - 2011-06-16

Whatever happened to the links to live Japanese TV streams? Need to get back into studying again.

I think they died. There's KeyHoleTv, and wwiTV.com which is decent for finding streams, but I haven't seen the Gundam.eu streams come back online.

The gundam.eu's were the best Sad
Yeah, too many people found out about them and the servers couldn't handle the traffic.

Japanese TV Streams - Hashiriya - 2011-06-16

Yeh they were the best... I'd pay $20/month to have something like that again.

Ah, so that's what happened to them! I was wondering about that...Although nothing comes close to the gundam.eu streams, some of the streams online aren't half bad. I kind of like the "Seebit TV" one, although it's not a major channel like Fuji TV or anything.

If that's how you feel, then you can get NHK総合, NHK教育, 日本テレビ, TBSテレビ, フジテレビ, テレビ朝日, テレビ東京 for $30/month at http://www.wist.tv

KeyholeTV might end their service next week when the analog broadcasts stop.

Any current subscribers can rate this service? I'm considering it...

Well, now that you mention it, I am a current subscriber!
They are basically MMS streams that send you a randomly-generated URL for each time you want to watch it (so as to prevent re-broadcasting/distribution, whatever).

You can record the streams in any program that can do it. VLC does it, all you do it set up the saving options. Here's just something with the default settings:
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=ZMNY3M53
The quality is actually worse than normal here. That might have something to do with saving/compressing it...? At the very least, the sound usually never gets out of sync like in this example. Maybe I'll try again later...

They have a little tool for Mixtreamer, but it only works on 32-bit Windows (which I run through Windows 7's virtual XP thing. Not really worth it if you have VLC or something. The only thing it's really good for is setting up scheduled recording. If I'm asleep/at work/etc and I want to watch something, I can still open it up and tell it to record at a certain time. Other than that, there's no real need to download their tool.

I don't watch $30 worth of it a month, but I keep it around anyway. I think $30 is a little pricey for what it is...but you DO get all those channels...from Japan...so yeah. Plus, I can stream it to my xbox and watch it on actual TV if I want to.

Japanese TV Streams - Bokusenou - 2011-07-24

Yes~! KeyholeTV video streams still work.

Japanese TV Streams - squarezebra - 2011-07-24

Asriel,

How do you open the WIST streams with VLC? I have wist, and I hate that Mixtreamer program

Japanese TV Streams - Asriel - 2011-07-24

tl;dr - Right-click "save as" on the channel you want to watch. Open Playlist.aspx.aspx to get the URL to the services. Get new random string each time you open a new stream.

What you need is the IP of wist.tv, your name that they have on record, and a randomly generated string for every time you want to open a channel.

In the end, the address you want to input into VLC is this:
mms://IP.OF.WIST.TV/YOUR_NAME_RANDOMSTRING
filling in the proper values.

Log into wist.tv, and open the little box that shows you the channels you can watch.
Right-click channel you want to watch, and save the link to your computer. It should save as "Playlist.aspx.aspx"

Open it in a text editor.
The 3rd and 4th lines contain the exact thing that you copy into VLC.

OK, so now you have everything you need, but it's still annoying to save a file/open up every time. Now, every time you want to open a new stream, you just need to get the new randomly generated string.
You can do this by clicking on the channel you want to open, and assuming it doesn't open up in a media player, the URL should be something like:
h ttp://IP.OF.WIST.TV:8080/private/Playlist.aspx?t=RANDOMLY-GENERATED-STRING

Just use the same exact address you used before, with the newfound string, and you're watching a new channel. Hooray!

edit: I'm not sure what the policy is, so these are nonsense numbers, but just to get an idea of what you're looking for, the final product should look like:
mms://127.0.0.1/ASRIEL_KOOHII_C27DFECCDC797FF9C5996403B130D58C

ah, I get it. Thats easy. But you know, I'd never really thought of logging into the Wist website because I'd always loaded up mixtreamer. Thats much better, but like you said, its a shame I can't schedule the recording. I've recorded a few things with Mixtreamer, but the audio sync always tends to be almost half a second behind the video.

Thanks

Japanese TV Streams - Hashiriya - 2011-08-11

does anyone know how to fix the audio sync in VLC?
